Okay, if we're comparing entire catalogs here, I've gotta go with Led Zeppelin. The Who's best songs and best albums are better than Zep's best songs/albums, and the Who were definitely cooler. But you just can't argue with the body of work that Zeppelin made. Also, Led Zeppelin had the sense and good taste to call it quits after their drummer died.
I admire Jimi Hendrix and will certainly agree that he was revolutionary, but to me personally he was always a little too acid-ic or too much of a space cadet or hippy or whatever you want to call it. My favorite Hendrix song is '1983'.
