TOPIC: This Summer Has Sucked
Posted  Sunday, August 18, 2002 at 10:11 PM
Post 1 of 25
Soon after I moved to Nashville, I first discovered the Features and then later Fluid Ounces.
The two quickly became my very favorite bands.
Since then, each summer has been a wonderful time for seeing both of these bands.
One or the other would be playing at the Boro so much that it felt like I lived there.
This usual hallmark of summer has been washed away with Seth Timbs' departure from Murfreesboro and the Features' little hiatus.

Thus, this summer has sucked.

I've stayed locked in my room, listening to bootlegs on my headphones and remembering those nights from long ago.
I've been pricking my finger tips with needles and scrawling the lyrics to "Buffalo Head" and "Long Weekend" on my walls with my own blood.
I haven't felt like coming here for confession.

I'm glad fall is upon us, and the Features will be playing again. I hope their new EP is released soon. I hope to hear the new Fl Oz stuff rumoured to be out there. Maybe they'll make it out this way again...

For those of you who can, go to all three Features shows. A three-day bender would do me some good.
Changing from the funeral home to the public school will only allow me to catch 12th and Porter. I'll probably be recording the show.
See you there.

My summer hasn't exactly been one to rave about...That's for sure. I worked enough to be even more sick of it, and that alone is impressive. I saw The Features play twice, and we all know that is NEVER a bad thing.

As for the 3 day tour..I plan to make all shows (as long as I don't get caught for my underage status at 12th and Porter). I need a good Features binge before my schooling starts yet again. Some decent shows would be nice to catch. As you all know, I will see you there, too.

I know what you mean. Summer sucks. No cool shows. Everybody's on vacation or in summer school. No features shows. I cant wait for the Boro.
It's going to be fucking awesome.

I cannot even begin to express the oddness of this past summer. Aside from a lot of things changing in my life (only to go back to normal...) and developing an unhealthy addiction to the Game Show Network and Wal Mart pain killers (and that was just August!) it has been a tame one. Going to Knoxville and the Weez concerts were definitely highlights, as was skipping the family tradition of going east on the fourth so I could see the Features at Dancin'...that was good. Hopefully after Thursday i'll see a lot of features action (on a sidenote, is anyone going to Blue Cat's on the 30th in Knoxville?).

And judging by MTSU's campus I'll be seeing a lot of Feable Weiner. A lot. Oh yes. Yes yes yes. wink.gif blink.gif

Feable Weiner. I hate the band. But, I must respect them because they promote themselves very well. I cant respect their "music" but as promoters, they do their job very well.

I should be there as well, as long as the Food Lion nazi group allows it.

I've only seen Feable Weiner's MTSU 30 minute...thing that they air often and I must say that the music sounds very feable indeed. Their promotion is insane though. They are the Soulcracker of MTSU.

My family is having a big get together thing for the 30th (labor day) and I should be able to go (although it would either be with my mom who likes the features or a random cousin). Anyone have any idea what time the features go on?

And yes, I would be up for some Features chalking, they deserve it more that Feable Weiner. And hey, I'm a veteran of chalking after the whole "Save Late World With Zach" debacle.

UGH! I am SO jealous. I WANT TO HELP! But, alas, I am stuck in Johnson City for a couple more days. Just do some good chalking to represent my presence. I leave it up to damon and Ceeze to represent me. Make me proud.

Nerd/cock rock isn't really my thing per se, but The Weiner is good at what they do. You have to admit they are tight.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Tomorrow is Hollywood Squares Tuesday so yes, I am down for some chalking tomorrow night (tonight is Match Game). I actually have a nice little 15 piece set of crayola chalk left over from the Zach-ness as well. I'll get the word out to my fellow amigos on the messageboard.

Hey guys-

I just saw the flyers and the chalk on MTSU. I must say, whoever's responsible is a true talent.

Who do I need to get in touch with to help out next time?
Are you guys going to do it again if it rains?
If so, let me know this time! smile.gif

I'll help JAD and try to steer this discussion back to its original topic...

Even though I'm no longer in school, I still look forward to summer as a time to relax. It's a time to go to the pool and take a vacation. However, I'll agree with YDDD that this summer has absolutley sucked. I didn't have any fun at all. The only think even remotely interesting that has happened was the DitD show. It wasn't a great show, but at least I got to meet some of you.

Don't worry, though. You're ol' buddy TF isn't upset or anything. Autumn is my favorite season. (It is the most romantic, after all). It's right around the corner so fun times can't be too far behind.

You must be new here. No one is allowed to complain or say anything negative.

Ummm.... oh, wait....

On second thought, your comments fit in very well. Welcome aboard.
