How could you, Tom? The Coldplay show is competition enough (well, at least for some people...)

This week's Rage listings:

* THE FEATURES. Hands down one of the top five bands in this part of the country, regardless of genre. Energetic and enigmatic, they weave '60s mod with '80s new wave influences into songs you can't help but sing (or scream) along to. With RANA. New Jersey's answer to the Talking Heads, or maybe King Crimson. This group combines gritty, straightforward rock with flittering melodies and a little dose of art rock to make a thoroughly engaging sound. 10 p.m., 12th & Porter, $10, available through www.12thandporter.musictoday.com.

TOM FOOLERY BAND. 8 p.m., The Church, $7 21+, $12 18-20.

That's right. You should all come check us out sometime. We've been described as a cross between Mission of Burma and The Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band. We're also $3 cheaper than the Features show so you can save a few bucks and see a better peformance.

As an added bonus, we've been working on a cover of "Jurley" so you'll already know one of the songs!

If you come, please stop by after the show and say, "Hi." I'm the bassist/brown jug player.

I give them my props. The guitar/washboard player totally rocks as well.

I'll bet you a Jello Pudding Pop that Ryan Norris wrote that.

But it's about damn time. The Rage has been using that same writeup (you know the one - Love and the Kinks meets the Cars...their live show is very interactive) for way too long now.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

good god, jello pudding pops were good. a frozen confection with no rival. vanilla sucked, but the swirl and chocolate were incredible. i seem to be the only person that remembers blueberry/vanilla swirl jello pops. oh, and if anyone sees nestle icescreamers bug pops anywhere, let me know. and for the record, breyer's mint chocolate chip is the greatest ice cream ever.

I liked vanilla personally, but I do believe the swirls edged them out.

Hell yeah. Jello Pudding Pops ruled me. The swirl was the best for sure.

Wait a minute... isn't this topic supposed to be about my band? Oh well... who cares? I like ice cream better than my music anyway.

Once I went to Maggie Moo's, and they had a delicious chocolate-raspberry ice cream. I also really like rocky road milkshakes. You get to eat all of the shaken ice cream and then dig the chunks out of the bottom of the cup.

The next time we go, I want to try the chocolate-raspberry ice cream. I just think it's neat watching them make it.
And, anytime you can dig out chunks of chocolate or piece of fruit out of the bottom of the cup of ice cream you just got finished with, it is a good thing.

since we mentioned jello pudding pops in this thread i thought i'd share some advice. do NOT try those little bite-sized jello pudding snack bites. they are NASTY. you know that episode of seinfeld where george makes those pudding film slices? those bites are like nasty chunks of pudding film. yuck.

And that's why your earlier stuff was more experimental while keeping its pop roots. Every thing you've done in the last few years has just been trying to re-hash the past.

i think honey is better than chocolate fudge. i'll eat honey in yogurt, on ice cream, unsweetened wheat puffs, cheerios, biscuits, by the spoonful.....know why?....cos i love honey.

You should try Ben & Jerry's honey ice cream. It's some pretty good stuff.

I liked them all, vanilla included. I was on a quest for them about two years ago and I found a Food Lion that claimed to have them and I drove all the way over there only to find some crappy fruity popsicles. Another good reason to hate Food Lion.

Honey is great on cornbread and biscuits. I wish I would have figured that out earlier in life.
