Ouch... changes often. There are 15 bands that are always in the running... they are as follows: Beck, Ben Folds (+/- Five), Bjork, Built to Spill, Coldplay, The Features, Pavement, Radiohead, REM, Self, Smashing Pumpkins, Squarepusher, They Might Be Giants, Weezer, and Wilco.

Right now, the list would have

1.) The Features (upcoming concert excitement)
2.) Weezer (upcoming concert excitement)
3.) Coldplay (the new album is AMAZING)
4.) Built to Spill (finally finished my collection)
5.) Beulah (I'm just digging them alot lately)

So that's me.

Uh...this is too difficult, especially if you're considering the complete history of music. The Beatles will likely always be my favorite band (shocker!). But there are a handful of artists that are always right up there with the Beatles:

the Features
Self
Blur
U2
R.E.M.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

i'm surprised to see blur up there so high. many people would argue that their albums aren't as strong as they could be- with with a handful of good songs and the rest acting as filler. personally, i enjoy them quite a bit. perhaps the people who would say such things are too obsessed with oasis to admit that blur is class.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

I can completely understand that Blur is not for everyone. For me, though, as a fan of quirky, melodic pop music with smart lyrics, Blur is it. Plus, Graham Coxon just continually blows me away. He is my favorite guitar player ever. There now, I've said it.

i must say, i too am a fan of this brand of music, and i agree that graham is a great guitarist. any idea if the so-called new album will ever be finished? i hope this gorillaz nonsense doesn't spell the end for blur.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

No, there will be a new album. It's being produced by Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim). I have no idea when it will be released. But if you cruise on over to Blur's official website,

www.blur.co.uk

you will see that it is being remodeled, which I think is a good sign. Often, these days, a band's website gets remodeled when a new album is coming out.

ah, so true. that website has been sporting the best of blur look for some time now. change can only mean something new. however, i'm not so sure about this fatboy slim business. hopefully it doesn't turn out too strange.
