Anyone going to this?

Verde is apparently "fuzz-pop" now tongue.gif
* VERDE. Nashville femme-pop trio along the lines of Juliana Hatfield or Ivy. With Murfreesboro fuzz-pop band IMAGINARY BASEBALL LEAGUE, whose debut EP is a brilliant ''throwback'' to late '80s and early '90s Midwestern college rock, and Knoxville melodic indie rockers WESTSIDE DAREDEVILS. 9pm, The End, $5, 18+

Actually, they're described as femme-pop. At least they're not "lazy and languid" anymore (although they could stand to move around on stage every once in awhile). Funny enough, the drummer from Verde described one of his old bands to be "fuzz-pop". In fact, he was convinced for a short time that he had invented the word.

With both Verde and IBL at one show, I will definitely be there. You'll know me (as if everyone doesn't already) as the guy standing right in front of Mz. Dewese during Verde's set.

I'll be there after I leave another engagement. The amount of rock that I'm gonna see tonight is beyond ridiculous.

Oh, but the payoff will be SWEET. I envy you, my friend. I wish I could make the DND show, too.

I would love to go to both, also, but I don't think that's going to work out. It's been a while since I have had my verde fix and I am horny for the green. I just got my Hott Covers and my tape player has never been so active. IBL will be great, and Westside Daredevils is also a surprisingly good band with a great bass player.

Carl, I don't think you could handle the Jamboree.

I am suddenly reminded that I want/need a copy of the first 1st EP. So...should any one involved with the band see this thread, please help a brother out and bring a couple of copies along with the other merch.

Are you talking about Verde, YDDD? They only have one EP. It's called Hola Chica. The one that came before it, Say Good Morning, was a full-length album. The cover is red and has a picture of Andrea playing an acoustic guitar.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Say Good Morning is the one I don't have, and I didn't know it was full-length.

The cover is actually tan now. If you're cool like me and JC, you have a first printing with the red cover.

Yadadada- I'll try to get you guys a copy of Say Good Morning (which is full length, and is more or less an Andrea solo album). Consider it a wedding gift.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

This will be a great show. It's a shame I left yesterday. If you haven't seen WSDD, I reccomend getting there early tonight. They are a lot of fun and very nice people at that.

You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

West Side Connection and IBL were OK...I didn't sleep through them.

I'm giving a second listen to the Verde set now. It was a great show, and the sound on the recording is better than it was from where I was standing. The vocals are much much clearer.

I felt very special when my request was granted. Thanks to Keith for that and the CD. I'll give you a copy of the show and a rare Features show as a thank you (hopefully by the 18th).

I don't know...the Westside Daredevils? Eh. Imaginary Baseball League were really really good. I bought their EP. Sorry I couldn't stay for Verde. It was just too far past my bedtime for a school night.

It's a shame that I missed this show since I really enjoy Verde and IBL; but the De Novo Dahl show that I saw in it's place was awesome. I commend JC for making it to both shows. The Long Hollow Jamboree is now officially my favorite venue.

Yeah, it was a pretty unbelievable place. And a great show. I'd definitely be into seeing another De Novo Dahl show there, for what it's worth. It's the country, man. The country.

The rumor mill says that there may be another show when school starts this fall. After attending last night, Joel's idea for a concert series seems cooler everytime that I think about it. It could be sponsored by IBC Root Beer and BBQ. Mmm...bbq.

Now that's an idea. Was their BBQ good? IBC products rule me. For 4th of July, I got a six pack of each kind and put them all on ice.

Man, their barbeque ruled my world. It was just a little spicy, very hot and very good. On a separate note, they have "open-mike" night on Tuesday with a host band to play while you sing. I love that place.

You'll like it a lot more when you're 20 or so and don't have to see all of those punkasses wearing trucker hats and talking about their new Dashboard Confession CD. It's hard to explain, but just wait your turn and you'll realize it was worth waiting for.

It gets even better when it's 21+. That's when all the cool clubs break out Twister and Monopoly before the opening acts start.

IBC and BBQ!?! Maybe IBL should play. I guess there'd be no chance of getting PBR at a place like that, huh?

If I had known Ms. Carroll was going to both shows, maybe I would have gone along, too. Oh well, at least IBL and Verde were great.

one day you will love them
one day you will love 21+, too
one day your hearing will get bad and you will not go to shows

and you will complain about "all this new music you don't get"
and pine for the days when you were 16
and didn't have to ask people to repeat what they just said
