If anyone is interested, my roommate and I are putting on a Velvet Underground tribute night at the Slow Bar February 20th. So far we have the Features, Character, Paul Burch, My Tyger, possibly Glossary, and some others if we can get hold of them. I'll give updates later if anyone cares. Did any of you guys happen to see that set of Velvets covers the boys did at the boro? 'Twas bitchin'.

That's bullshit. She is my Nordic queen and I don't appreciate you slagging her. While some people cannot appreciate the subtle, mannish beauty of Nico's voice I for one love it. Every song she sang on the first Velvet's album is great and her solo album 'Chelsea Girl' is also incredible. God bless Wes Andersen.

I'm probably forgetting some people.
Loaded, while it has its share of great songs, is the least relevant Velvets record. The absence of Moe Tucker is felt. Also, it sounds piecemeal. Too many guitar solos. There is a part in 'Sweet Nothing' that sounds like 'Freebird' for Christ's sake.

If anyone hasn't already heard, I think the VU tribute is cancelled. Most of the bands had to drop out and it was becoming a huge hassle. Sorry.
