TOPIC: Weezer in Nashville

Great show, I thought. Here's what we got (out of order):
No One Else, Buddy Holly, Undone, Say It Ain't So, In the Garage, Tired of Sex, Why Bother?, El Scorcho, Pink Triangle, BUTTERFLY, Don't Let Go, Hash Pipe, Island in the Sun, Dope Nose, Keep Fishin', Take Control, and one more Maladroit tune whose name escapes me (Love Explosion?). Good show, good set. I'm amazed at a band that leaves half of the audience scratching their heads to make sure that the other half is really happy. Butterfly floored me, I assumed I'd be in my grave having never heard it live. Only Across the Sea could have made me happier.

Now some questions for some of you who were there:

Guy in the Blue shirt with brown pants and the two girls that came with him... I saw you three at Dancin' in the District. Any of you post here?

The stuff they were playing before Sparta... the cool electronica with the random french voiceovers, and the spacy-sounding woman with the xylophone backing and also some electronica... can anyone identify either of these?

How about the Hip-hop that played after the promotional music before weezer came out. That shit was tight.

I'm out,

Will

They opened with Death & Destruction off of Maladroit. I would have loved to have heard Good Life & Only In Dreams but hey, I heard them at municipal.

I saw a girl there who I saw at Dancin' the Features night but...I can't form thoughts right now. Awesome show. They played Elvis Costello's new single 45. I gave a nice cheer for Iwantelvis since she was unable to attend.

If you're referring to Digsy's quote, then it sounds like Office Space to me. I've thought about tending bar somewhere but I know I would end up at either some vile seedy place where the customers scare me, or some uber-hip seedy place where the customers scare me.

Ah ah yes yes now I get it. Sorry I'm still lagging from the mighty rock that Weezer laid on me last night. Yes, it's from Office Space. Brian is the greatest character in that movie. He cracks me up every time. The quote is also an inside joke with HaveSomeSoma and Iwantelvis and myself. We quote him all the time.

Actually today at Don Pablo's I had the female Brian yet again. Her quote "Can I get you guys some water, tea or maybe some caffeinated beverages? biggrin.gif "

That's redundant, Tea has caffeine. I hate Don Pablo's by the way.

hmmm.. you just made me realize that all bars scare me, with cheers and moe's being the obvious exceptions.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

That guy in the blue shirt and brown pants was me. The two girls comprised of my girlfriend and her sister. I thought the show fucking rocked. I mean, come on, they played "butterfly"! However, I did have one complaint, the sound mix was terrible at Amsouth. Guitars that were supposed to be fucking loud were reduced to a slight buzzing sound. Oh, and did I mention that I hate Dashboard?

I was one of the girls that was with the blue shirt/brown pants guy. (the taller one with the long hair).

I thought Weezer was amazing. They only neglected to play a couple of my favorite songs, so I was very pleased. If only it could have lasted a little longer. I was disappointed in the sound quality at Amsouth, though. I've been there several times, but I've never noticed it before. It's just not loud enough.

I found it excruciatingly painful to have to sit through Dashboard Confessional. I can't believe people like that junk (sorry if I'm offending anyone). I wasn't a huge fan of Sparta either, but they sounded great compared to "DC".
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

This and Ray's quote lead me to belive that it had more to do with where you were seated/standing. I was right at the front of the grass section (leaning against the rail even) in the center and it was the best sound I've had in the past several shows I've been to.

Or maybe I'm insane.

That could be true. We were seated at the far left. I guess we didnt get the full effect. The show still fucking rocked, though.
