TOPIC: weird features dream
Posted  Sunday, June 16, 2002 at 12:27 AM
Post 1 of 34
so last night i had this odd dream, actually it was this morning and it was the last in a series of weird, quite lucid, dreams that left me terriblly tired when i woke up this morning (by morning i mean one in the afternoon).

in this dream i was filling in for roger at a features show. jamiecarroll was also subbing for parrish on the keys. the show was at some sort of outdoor party on a lake, with us being the second of a few bands which also included some sort of richard ashcroft project. i ended up waking up for a couple moments and was able to go back to the dream, i've only been able to this two or three times in my life. back to the dream... i kept fucking up, but i thought it was allright since we were just soundchecking. it turned out the what i thought was the soundcheck was actually the set. i was quite disturbed. anyway, that's it. i woke up, drank some coffee and went to work.

i think the latent content of dream had something to do with the idea i had to murder roger a few years ago after my band broke up. i figured i was a shoe in.  i also wanted to kill the bass player from lifeboy and take his place. i'm a really sick person.

sweet dreams kiddies...

I, too, have had weird dreams involving the Features, although they weren't about me subbing for anyone. Rather, they were in weird venues...since this was a series of dreams for two nights actually. They were in a park of some sort in one dream...and they were on a stage that was barely risen off of the ground. Well, there were TONS of people there, and there were actually fights that broke out over who got to get up front to watch them. (Even in my dreams, this band has a powerful influence.)
In another dream they were in a place that had a balcony (and I have shared this dream with someone else on the board already), and I was viewing from up top. But the funny thing was that while at first they were playing on the ground floor, when I turned the right, they were playing in the balcony. Of course, I was rocking out with a friend of mine while this was going on. So, I guess my Features dreams are a lot less filled with underlying meanings. I have been having lots of strange dreams lately though, so I will keep you all posted on any other weird manifestations that my mind comes up with involving the Features.

Last night I had a dream that bears were running loose throughout the city, attacking everyone. I was fending one off with my bike, but the bear shreded it. I got bit a few times, but I came out alright. Ryan Norris was there too. Does this mean anything?
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I had a dream about the Features once...I was in my parents' bedroom, standing next to the bed. My hair stood on end and my skin began to tinkle as each member walked in and started undressing

This suddenly became too sick to finish...

How strange, lw. I, too, had a very strange, very lucent dream last night. I walked into the End to go to some show, and there, on stage was my ex-girlfriend, singing and playing guitar (she doesn't play guitar). To make it even weirder, all of the songs that she was playing were songs that I had written. What does this mean? What do any dreams mean? I know that there are some psych majors and med students on this board...

Dreams have been argued to have no meaning, while others think that they have all the meaning in the world. I am on my way to work right now, but when I get back tonight, I will let you all know my opinions. In the mean time, I am looking forward to what lw, mindy, and Ceeze post since I know they are involved in Psychology.

i think that dreams do mean things; i think they are really symbolic but i don't agree with the theory that they predict the future. i would try to analyze your dream, but im really hungover and i just don't feel like thinking. you understand.

Joe Baingles, classic. I hope you hook me up with some chicken next time I visit (which will be a lot harder now).

Jamie, didn't you write a song for her to sing one time? I believe Freud would say that your subconcious is trying to come out and say 'Who gives a shit about her, anyway?'

Watch out Joe...here she comes. And, mindy, we will hang out soon. I promise. You gonna be in all summer? Just get back to me on that smile.gif
Now, as for Freudian thoughts on dreams...just about everything was sexual. All content was referring to phallic or vaginal imagery of some sort. So, yeah, water is on the list of things that deal with your sex drive. Hmm..I dream about water ALL the time. Watch out TF. Haha.
There have also been arguments that dreams mean absolutely nothing and that they are simply electronic impulses in the brain that travel around basically and cause nothing but random images that your brain groups together as a dream.
Of course, I don't think that dreams are all sexual, but I don't believe that they have no meaning. I know that a lot of my dreams represent things that are going on in my life. So, how could they just be random impulses that are coincidentally tranferred into something that I am dealing with at the moment? Ah, that's bullshit. But, hey, I am not even that far into my major yet. I will get back to you all in about a year about all this. I'm sure I will still be addicted to this board.

i got halfway through siggy freud's 'the interpretation of dreams' before throwing the boring crap down. it's not like i've studied psychology, but i agree, from what i've read, with jung's views more. ahhhh what am i saying. it's still just poppycock.

freud is a madman. his interpretations of dreams are all the same damn thing, ' this represents a penis; blah blah blah'. i wonder if that guy just really needed to get laid.

dreams are just little neuron impulses choosing pictures, but why do we choose the pictures we do? it can't all be bullshit, otherwise why do we have realistic nightmares, or really good dreams about people we love? sometimes in dreams we are acting out things we can't do in real life; like see people we knew who died. and certain things represent other things. for example, i have dreams that im trying to drive a car from the backseat alot. i think this means that i feel out of control, or that someone else is controlling my decisions. dream interpretations are very personal, though, someone else could have this same dream and find that for them it means somehting completely different. kind of like horoscopes. you mold them to fit into what you think they should be, to work with your everyday life.

Being a Psych person, I can officially concur that Freud was full of shit. We've done lots of studies & experiments to prove this, so trust us. Personally, I think that dreams are visual manifestations of our emotional state, and become more intense/memorable in accordance with the intensity of those emotions. For example, when I'm anxious, I have wild, psychedelic, exhausting dreams...and not just after I've eaten mushrooms. But seriously, I ALSO had a dream of the Features playing in a big park-type area with a HUGE crowd AND there were fights involved! . I think the fact that 3 of us have dreamed a similar thing means it's a premonition. Let's hope there's not a rumble at Dancin in the District

I had a dream last night about the Features. Some friends and I were on a road trip to Tennessee. When we got there we went to this place that was sort of a cross between the Red Rose and The Boro. As soon as I walked in, someone who I assumed was close to the Features told me that they were having open auditions for a new drummer in September. Then Matt Pelham turned around and started talking to me in this british accent about how they were going to need a new drummer. So I talked to him for a while and then my friend, who plays in a band here in Virginia, butted in and started talking business with Matt. How he wanted to get his band to play with The Features. Then I said something like 'well we're in the right place, cause bands play here at the red rose.' But I looked around and realized we weren't in the red rose at all. Every body thought I was dumb. That's about it.
