OK, so I am bored as hell at work, and I got to thinking about what the rest of you guys were doing. Where does everyone work? I am at Mercury Records doing, well, this.

Damn, that didn't kill as much time as I was hoping.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Right now I have two weeks until I graduate with a huge project that determines my graduation status due in one. So, at the moment, my job is staying awake as much as possible.

Also, I am certain the Features would fit in quite well with Shania Twain, Mark Wills, Jamie O'Neal, Terri Clark and the rest of our roster.

Keith, c'mon...just march into Luke Lewis' office and demand that he sign this artist right now. I know you can do it.

Graphical Imformation Systems Map Technician sounds straight out of an ITT Tech comercial. I know it's not, it's just one of those titles.

Ms. Carroll, weren't you a technician of some kind at that job you only kept for one day?

Doesn't Mercury own Capricorn, which is the label where Cake resides? There would be a nice place in the market for the Features to work.

Correct me, Keith, if I'm wrong, but I think that Mercury-Nashville is a subsidiary of Mercury Records.  Mercury-Nashville only handles country music.  Those people's brains wouldn't even be able to process the Features. Their brains have been turned to mush by years of working in contemporary country.

YaDaDaDa- Cake is on Columbia which is owned by Sony I believe.

Jamie- Mercury Nashville and Mercury Records (now Island/Def Jam) are both subsidiaries of Universal Music. Mercury Nashville isn't any more affiliated with them than they are with MCA, etc.

I honestly would like to think that the Features signing a huge deal would be a good thing...but I can't make myself believe it. I'd imagine them getting tucked away somewhere (like Self has on Dreamworks) or just losing integrity. I know I may get railed for feeling that way, but I can't help it. The other side of that is just feeling that I prefer the Features on small stages and intimate settings. My hope for them is to get the music out there of course, but I'd rather it be in a more protected way than being rammed with a major label deal.

i agree. the band would be better off building up a following on a reputable indie and dictating what they want with the majors when they get it. i seriously doubt there will ever be a bidding war over them.

I don't know; they are damn good. but I also much prefer seeing them on small stages, where matt can be close to me smile.gif. yeah, im half-way kidding.

plus, big record companies scare me thouroughly, as I am sure they do many of you. and I would hate to see my favorite band get sucked into a big corporate mess.
thank you for being a friend.
