TOPIC: What do you want for Christmas?
Posted  Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 12:45 PM
Post 1 of 46
Oh I am so happy to honor everyone's request for a topic about Christmas! I would love to hear everyone's Christmas wishes as well as any comments/suggestions regarding past Christmases.

Has anyone decorated their tree yet? Made Christmas cookies? Sang Christmas carols?

Keep the holiday spirit alive!

Sincerely,
Santa Claus

My Christmas List:

A History of Britain on DVD
Housewares and things because I'd like to get an apartment-type thing
Many many CD's that can be found on my Amazon wish list
Some money so I can take classes in London next July
Peace on Earth

There was a gathering last night that too many other members attended for me to name, but such fine films as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "A Muppet Family Christmas," and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" were shown. There was much food and harmony and picture taking, and one Mr. Digsy provided a food-type substance featured in the film "Elf", I believe that involoved spaghetti, marhmallows, chocolate, whipped cream, and many other sweet things....I made it though four bites before nausea swept over.

Good clean holiday fun. I think Mummers is waiting to put the tree up until I come home. I need to do some shopping this week, SexySadie told me about some good, cheap, gift ideas that are perfect for a frugal student like myself.

(Edited by MissSeptember at 12:07 pm on Dec. 8, 2003)
That's so NA.

i want:

everything by jefferson airplane on vinyl
that cute ass merona tweed coat i've been eye-ing
May to get here faster so i can graduate and move
my brother to be safe and happy while in service
and

laugh.gif

oh, and santa if you could help me write this ten page paper, and finish this 3 piece ad project, i'll leave you something extra sweet by the tree this year.

Well, my sisters are getting nice pictures of me in pretty frames I'm going to make since I'm never home (and a little vain), and I was told about $3 VHS tapes at Wal-Mart.

I have no idea what to do for Mummers & Pop.

My house already has, like, 5.5 trees in it. My Star Wars tree is quite rocking...

I've already publicly stated what I want for Christmas over the radio. What I really want, though, are my two front teeth...

dear santa,
i have been really good about keeping up my christmas spirit this year. i put up the tree two days after thanksgiving. i even tacked a little santa hat onto MJ on our giant michael jackson poster in our living room. i was at the aforementioned christmas movie-viewing party. i even stole "how the grinch stole christmas" and "frosty the snowman" from my work (i know you don't usually approve of stealing, but i thought in this case you would applaud it). so let me get to the point. what i want this year from you, senor claus, is:

all of the white stripes full-lengths on vinyl
for the strokes to come to nashville on their spring tour
the circus lithograph
for you to give my a&p teacher some horribly embarrassing but harmless disfiguration
a nicer house to move into next fall (prefferably the christian twins' side of the duplex, so charlotte and i can move in)
a features full length sometime next year

thank you.

Ha! Dirty Christian twins. I think they may have stolen my melmac ashtray I had outside. I'm sure they didn't, I probably just misplaced it. It's more fun to blame it on them than to look for it though. wink.gif

I haven't given a Christmas list much thought this year. I basically just want more Beatles Yellow Dog bootlegs from Santa.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Now Tom, don't be so damned humble. This is Christmas, damnit. Ask for a Canon EOS 1-Ds.

Don't you know that Santa doesn't like a sensor that is smaller than a 35mm frame, nor one that has less resolution than film, and neither should you?

The 300D certainly has its limitations, but since I'm such an amateur with the camera and it would be my first SLR, I think it would be a decent camera for me. Besides, I didn't want to get my heart set on a 1Ds (or even a 10D) because I've been such a naughty boy this year that I'll probably have to buy it myself.

PF,

Santa doesn't know these things like you might think... I'd specify those S4s or Ultraprimes (which is your preference by the way?), or else the Frog might end up with an Arricam with a zoom lens. And we wouldn't want that, would we?

Ahh yes. A G5... a purchase I'll be making less than a month before my student ID expires. I watched them unload 19 dual 2.0 GHz G5s into the lab facilities today. So tempting to grab one, the lab can get by with 18 instead, right?

Santa needs to be told about the licencing for Shake as well.

Is Tyler the nose or side mount? Nose right? I think that's what we used last September. Good item. Santa can screw fitting it in the sleigh and just fly the damned thing to you.

Peacefrog wins the "list I'd most like to steal for myself" award, I fear.

But I still really only want to know when the album is coming, Santa.

I want:

A new job
A new president
Deagan 510 Vibraphone with cases
pair of Shure M45's
VPI 16.5 Record Cleaning machine
20' of nice speaker cable
Vintage McIntosh integrated tube 2 channel amplifier
Hold'Em for the Advanced Player by Sklansky and Malmuth
$1,000 to spend on DVD's and LP's

Of course, this is all wishful thinking. I'll probably end up getting the VPI 16.5, the speaker cable, the book, and maybe the job.

I personally prefer the ultras... can't say I have ever shot S4's... but you use what you are familiar with, eh?

The tyler is the nose mount I believe, I always get confused (only used one 4 times, heli that is) but its kinda like calling Scot's facial tissue a Kleenex... we all know what you want.

After my advice to Roadie, I'm going against mine... I have my eye on an Eclair ACL S16. Have some stuff going that I don't want to jinx just yet...

Its kinda like what happened to the XL-1... was made for docs and lawyers to take family vacation pix and became a cult camera. Very odd to find accessories for and yes, damn near impossible to do S16 yourself, although I'm sure it can be done... I have a friend that has one, I bet he'd sell it.

Santa, let's face facts, I haven't done jackshit since April. If anyone is undeserving of anything at this point, it's me. I'm lazy, I show up late to work on almost every Saturday, I did terrible in school this semester (see: lazy), I breeze through life avoiding complications, and I wake up every day no earlier than one o'clock. The only thing that I can hang my hat on anymore is that I do the laundry and wash the dishes for Mitch and Powder P. And god damn it, that's lame and thankless. Santa, I have but only one wish for you this Christmas. All I ask for is some motivation. I was hooked on the shit when I was young, what happened? I used to be so motivated that I did things that didn't even need to be done! And now, I'm cached. Santa, do me a favor and hook me up this Christmas. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

just lay off your indulgances for awhile, RD, and your passion (for school or life, not the ladies (that will never die)...ahem) will come back stronger than ever. moderation is the key. you can still be lazy as fuck and make it class and still do a good job at almost any task.
