since the "what are you listening to?" thread came back, i figured we could use a "what cool things are going on locally this week?" thread.

The Clutters, The Kindergarten Circus, and Scaremongering
All-Ages $5
On Saturday, October 14, 2006 Grand Palace is graciously hosting our Teachers benefit show for us and the kids at 7pm. The show will feature The Clutters from Nashville, Kindergarten Circus of Murfreesboro, and a special guest band. More than being just for the kids, this show is a shout out to teachers. We want to meet Murfreesboro's educators. On that note, teachers get in free with their school ID, so spread the word. Doors open at 6 so come early and say hello. There will be no smoking, no alcohol, and no bad attitudes.

This is a benefit for murfreesboro's upcoming youth culture and art center. and if you haven't checked out the kindergarten circus then you should get on that. they will own this town in about 5 years.

and, apparently, tomorrow is oktoberfest in the germantown area. i have no plans yet to go to it. i was just wondering if anyone has ever been before or had any thoughts on it. seems like it could be hit or miss. anyway, it's free and lasts all day until 7pm. i found a little info about it here.

Back in my drinking days, I once ran the 5k for free beer at the end... of course, the most training I had had at that point was walking to the mailbox everyday. Essentially it's a family event and you can usually see Adam Dread there pressing the flesh. Good beer and brats though.
