Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows who sings the song off of the Staurn Ion commercial. It is the one with the people driving the car through "childhood". :) Thanks guys.

Aparently, per the discussion in this thread, it's "We've Been Had," by the Walkmen.

The Walkmen are an excellent group. I picked up the double album set a few months ago from www.insound.com. The 2 LP set is "The Blizzard of 96" and "Wake Up." Great stuff.

I bought 'Everyone who Pretended....." the other day and like it quite a bit, the piano sounds great. I do think that We've Been Had stands out on the album, maybe that's because of the commercial, but I don't think so.

some of the songs grew on me, some of them didn't. my favorites were "we've been had" & "wake up". now it's "everyone who pretended...", "that's the punchline", & "rue the day". i'm glad everyone seems to like them. they played a show at the slow bar several months ago and hardly anyone was there. me, smee, and about 10 other people were the only ones paying attention. i think the walkmen are one of the few newer bands doing something somewhat original.

i like them alot. my favorites are (besides "wake up" and "we've been had") "that's the punchline," "stop talking," and "rue the day." i would love to see them live. the slow bar would have been the perfect opportunity had i been a couple of years older.

i really like them as well. i think "wake up" is such a great song. the entire album is great. on a different note, i remember that i saw that someone had reviewed it for the station and gave it a horrible review. it said something along the lines of "it sounds really old and i can't understand what the lead guy is saying." Yet another typical review from WMTS.....

If it's not metal or techno, they don't seem to be into it.

According to their website, the Walkmen are taping for Carson Daly on the 19th--I don't know if this actually means the show will air the same night, so you might want to watch tomorrow night just to be safe.

they're similar. the guitarist, drummer, & organist of the walkmen were all members of jf*e. jf*e's vocalist was entirely different. his lyrics are less direct than hamilton's(walkman's vocalist) and his voice is more jagger-ish. i really like both bands(my interest in jf*e led to my interest in the walkmen), so it's hard for me to say whether or not someone who likes the walkmen would care for them. i'd be more than happy to make you a compilation of their stuff. it would be pretty easy for me to get it to you through the idaho st guys or whomever. let me know if you're interested.

definitely interested, thanks man! if you don't want to go to the trouble of the comp., you could just make an album suggestion or two, that would be fine by me.

no trouble for me...i'd be more than happy. the albums may be out of print too. i can fit everything they've released(minus their ridiculously hard to find, way out of print debut)and 2 walkmen tracks off of the first ep on one cd.

we can all hate carson daly, but at least he gets some decent music guests (the apples in stereo had to cancel their initial nashville date so they could be on his show)...
but i guess conan's cool as hell and gets decent music guests too. i believe the guy who books for conan lives in nashville.

I'm not a big Carson Daly fan either, but I have seen him mention in interviews that he hates boy bands and lots of that teeny pop music. And, like smee said, he does tend to get go musical guests on his show. If I am around a TV that late, I usually see who he has playing.

Anybody that has Interpol as a musical guest is fine by me; unless of course Barbara Steisand got her own late night show and had Interpol as a guest. She would still not be fine by me. Carson Daly also dated the most babe-alicious Jennifer Love Hewitt.
