Oh my goodness, I'm starving. Why did you have to mention the old Red Rose spinach deluxe? WHY??? I want one so badly.

I think I'm going to eat my fake turkey on white bread sandwich now that I have packed for lunch.

EDIT: I just ate my sandwich, and I want more.

Spinach deluxe is good as I recall. I was in Murfreesboro this weekend and had the Red Rose's veggie burger for the first time since last May... To my dismay, they are now smaller than they used to be. I used to consider those things as a potential candidate for a reason for living. So sad...........

I got a free turkey and cheese from Jimmy Johns at a seminar today. Not bad, but I'm pissed they were out of the Italian ones.

I had the veggie sandwhich at Atlanta Bread Co. on Valentine's and it was very good. The best part of it was the dill spread, which gets me thinking about the Red Rose's herb cream cheese. Now that was my reason for living. Well, not really. I wonder if they still have it

I like pepperoni and pepper jack sandwiches, as well as PB&J. Since I don't like the greens, my sandwich options are limited.

I eat pizza products of some sort every day.

Sandwiches rock. I never get tired of a really good turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, swiss, cheese, pickles, and honey mustard.

Veggie burgers are also wonderful. I much prefer them to beef burgers. I really like the v. burgers at the Cooker, of all places.

When I make a sandwich at home, it's pretty much always either ham or roasted turkey on whole wheat bread with a little bit of Miracle Whip or mayo, depending on what kind of mood I'm in or what's around. I generally like my sandwiches "plain," without a bunch of stuff on them. If I'm going to have lettuce, tomato, etc, it has to be VERY fresh and VERY high quality. I can't stand soggy lettuce or tomato.

Also on the topic of sandwiches, I'll tell you what I've been addicted to lately. We just got this new restaurant in Bellevue called Penn Station East Coast Subs. Their Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is absolutely the best I've ever had in my life, and I don't normally like cheesesteak sandwiches. I haven't even gotten around to trying anything else at this place, because this sandwich is so good that I have to get it every time I go there. In addition to the steak, onions, mushrooms and provolone that come on it, I also get spicy mustard and mayo and banana peppers. I swear if they were open this late, I'd go get one right now.

Fresh tomato, fresh mozzarella (the kind that comes as water-soaked white balls, not fake Kraft slices), artichoke hearts, salt and pepper, and olive oil drizzled on top.

Yeah, I love that sandwich, but I can't afford fresh mozzarella on a regular basis; therefore, I eat two slices of fake turkey on white loaf bread. The only thing cheaper is peanut butter. Speaking of peanut butter, I prefer the Smuckers (or the cheaper off brand) "Natural" kind with a berry (either strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, or combination) jam or preserves, not jelly. Peanut butter is one of my favorite foods.

word. their sandwiches never cease to amaze me. the bread is wonderful and the toppings are delish. the steak sandwich is brilliant. being a fan of the plain sandwich as well, i also enjoy a nice turkey, provolone, spicey mustard, and bacon. wonderful.

Agreed. Real mozarella is hard to come by. They don't even sell it at Kroger, the bastards.

I am weird in that I combine my peanut butter with orange marmalade. I love orange marmalade and once tried it with peanut butter and found that I love it.

But do you know what's even better than PB&J? Peanut butter and banana. Or better yet - peanut butter and banana on toasted bread!

It's weird because if anybody loves sweets, it's me. But I'm not a fan of the peanut butter and honey or peanut butter and marshmallow cream. There's too much sweetness on top of sweetness, and I'm not fond of the textures together. I do like grilled (or ungrilled) peanut butter and banana, just like Elvis.

well. Some of you may know of my affection for condiments. Some of the best, cheapest sandwiches you'll ever come by have no actual substance to them.

Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Ketchup and mayonnaise
Ketchup and spicy brown mustard
Mayonnaise and spicy brown mustard
Mayonnaise and honey mustard
Peanut butter and miracle whip

Sandwiches such as the Ketchup and mayonnaise also go well with cheese and slices of tomato, in which case you've just made the Not-A-Burger. To change it up, I sometimes toast the bread for these sandwiches.

Another favourite dish of mine that is actually not a sandwich would be the Not-A-Potato:
Melted Butter, Melted Cheese, Sour Cream, Bacon Bits, salt to taste.
You can put this on top of Triscuits for a very tasty treat.

I was unfimilir with the Not- A- ____ concept. The Not- A Potato is hilarious and I would most likely enjoy it becuase of my love of sour cream. The bacon bits would have to be artificial though.

you know, sometimes i like to add soy sauce to the Not-A-Potato.

you can definitely alter the recipe to your condiments of choice - chives, etc. are acceptable.

lets discuss grilled cheese. i have never liked grilled cheese sandwiches because they were so bland and just dont go well with hot sauce. maybe lots of jalepeños would be good. anyways, the ones ive liked were the ones in elementary school (where the bread was so crunchy that it broke teeth). ever since fourth grade i've been trying to make my bread that crunchy and it just wont happen.

i'm really craving banana peppers right now. i can't wait until work.

i figured out how to do this the other night. If you leave toasted bread sitting in the toaster (though not cooking) for an hour, you'll have it.

Or you could just bake it. Butter two slices of bread, but your cheese on one of the slices, and put the two slices of bread on the cookie sheet, unassembled. Assemble them once they are cooked. They get crispy that way, too.

I have always loved grilled cheese. When I was little, I used to make melted cheese sandwiches in the microwave all the time, as well.

I also enjoy the 99 cent grilled cheese from Sonic.
