After my first venture in snowboarding this week, I have one thing to say. OUCH. My legs hurt. My abs hurt. My knees hurt. But, surprisingly enough, I plan on working on my snowboarding this winter and the next. I usually get super pissed at myself when I mess up a lot when I beginning to learn something. (It's a character flaw.) But, this time I was fine. I just laughed off my busted knees (numerous times).
So, who has tried winter sports? Skiing, snowboarding, bobsledding, ice skating, etc.? I've done ice skating, too, and I am much better at that.

I love to ski. I love it, I love it, I love it. I've been doing it since I was 11, but I don't get to go nearly enough these days. Flying down the mountain on a beautiful day is one of the greatest feelings this life affords us. As far as snowboarding goes: I can appreciate it, but I don't have any desire to do it. They say that the more used to skiing you are, the harder it is to learn snowboarding.

I went snowboarding in Cali a couple winters ago. It was really warm so we were ill prepared and I ended up without gloves which SUCKED. I ended up having to use my grandfather's driving gloves.

And yeah, I am much better at ice-skating too.

My attempts at snowboarding have all been at Mount Hood in Oregon. I've had people attempt to coerce me into gong to North Carolina to do it, since its the closest, but I just can't bring myself to it after what I've heard of the conditions there. I guess I got spoiled after my first time. Its awesome though. Beautiful, bone-jarring, a work out in a half.
I am a horse with no name.

I hate winter and therefore do not really participate in any winter sports. I did however buy a pair of brand new ice skates last year at Goodwill for 3.00....

I've never been skiing or snow boarding, I'd love to learn sometime. Ice Skating rocks, I took the class this time last year at UT. It was the first time I skated regularly since living in Michigan 12 years ago, I love it. NO figure skates though, damn toe-pick.

I used to ski a ton... even ski raced in high school. But I haven't been skiing in 10 years. My wife gets a bit agoraphobic on the mountain. What's the skiing like in East TN? I know its not the Rockies, but is it worth a drive over for a weekend of sluushing?

My main winter activity consists of me running to a class on campus mumbling to myself, "brrrrrrrrrrr...it's fucking cold"

I was just in Park City, Utah, a week ago for the Sundance Film Festival, and went skiing for the first time. Man what a rush! I went ass-over-head twice, my friend hit a tree (slowly) and my other friend ran into an innocent couple and plowed right over 'em. Funny as hell!

I enjoyed it, but it's a rather pricey hobby and prolly won't do it again until another *big* vacation in a year or so.

I've never been skiing. I am too klutzy, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to try sometime.

that reminds me of "better off dead", which reminds me of a theory brianeno2 and i developed. have you noticed in most 80s high school movies how the villian has blonde hair and is the captain/leader of the team in an obscure sport. anyway, i'd love to try skiing.

On a semi-related note, I got the Better Off Dead soundtrack on tape at Digital Planet a few days ago and I think the features should put their spin on one of the cheesy songs. But Parrish has to play the keytar. Just imagine...

awesome. me & elt were talking about that soundtrack the other day. that "i've been arrested by you, by you" song always stood out to me, the one lane plays for monique when he takes her on that date to pig burger.

I like to get drunk and go sledding, but that's about the extent of my winter activities. ph34r.gif

i'm sick of all you white people and yr winter sports. y'know why you like snow? yes, because it's white. i'd rather visit the batting cage or shoot free throws.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

When was the last time you actually participated in either of those activities, good weather or not? I think you're a liar. Too bad for you that alcohol and drug use don't count as sports.
