So first tourney of the night i'm in 4th out 5, i get pocket 10's on the Big Blind. This is good cause it's gonna be heads up b/t me and the Small Blind who is on a big stack. But wait....the Small Blind never acts!!! Oh shit i lost my connection. No!!!! I'm on cable so if i lose my connection it is really gone, I have to reboot my computer for some reason. So I figure I'm screwed, the blinds are going to eat away at my stack cause it was getting late in the tourney. So it takes me b/t 5 and 10 minutes to get back to the table and holy shit!! by doing nothing but folding (which is what you do when you are disconnected) i came in 3rd (and therefore won $$ because top 3 pays!!). This is a miracle to say the least.
But now, 4 hours later, i lost 4 tourney's in a row and i've had it. Awful Awful cards. Friday i was unbeatable but tonight sucks ass. Anyway the more people that watch the WSOP the better, they'll come play for $$ on partypoker.com, and they'll try and play like the pro's on the WSOP and they'll lose all their $$. The reason they lose is that the strategies that the pros use only work on other pros. You can't make big raises against morons in low stakes games because some idiot will always call you and beat you on the river. you gotta play tight as hell in a low stakes game.
I play poker for absolutely no other reason than to make extra cash. And the swings are so crazy i'm thinkin about quitting. There is so much i'd rather be doing. I don't really like the game all that much, i don't really like the culture of people that surround the game, it is nothing more than a moneymaking scam to me.
With that said, most of the guys in the WSOP are really really good. I haven't seen any of the tapes this year, but i followed it every day when it was happening back in may. Greg Raymer, who won this year, posts a lot on a poker message board i'm on and everybody on the board was ecstatic to see him win. But Dan Harrington year in year out is one of the best. And he plays SUPER tight. (tight meaning conservative) And that's the way that i like to play. Phil "the brat" Hellmuth, Men "the master" Nguyen and Johnny Chan (who graces my avatar) play maniacally agressive. And they're good too.
Anyway, if anybody needs poker advice or wants to learn, I may not be the best person to ask, but i'm better than the majority.
