Hooray! It's finally here! What a great thing not to have to listen to those mp3s anymore. Also, the Chelsea Walls soundtrack and the new Jay Bennet albums are out today. The Chelsea Walls Soundtrack is mostly music by Jeff Tweedy and Glen Koche. It's a good day to be a Wilco Fan!

Ahh yes I finally own it, too. But to regress back to mp3's, have you heard Jeff Tweedy's song 'On a Private Beach in Michigan'? I highly recommend fellow Jeff Tweedy junkies download it. I think it's new and I heard him play it solo in Chicago. It's beauteous.

yes i've heard the song. i'm assuming it also is know as 'spiders(kidsmoke)?' word is they have already recorded several more tunes, some songs, some instrumentals fot the new record. let's keep our fingers for another release this year.
ps, the heavy metal drummer video on YHF is priceless. who knew tweedy was such a cool dad?

Aww that is adorable. Apparently his kid attends a folk music school in Chicago and he's been known to play at their recitals singing kid's songs and whatnot.
In sadder not but entirely unexpected news from the anticipated-release front, I've been very underwhelmed by what I've heard from Paul Westerberg's new album.

Mr. Paul Westerberg also has a new CD out today. It's actually a double CD.

I think I read in a review that on the second disc of the double album, Paul is trying to revert back to Replacements-esque sound. Nevertheless, the first song on the album is called 'Baby Learns to Crawl,' which I assume is about his kid. That's a far cry from the roll-on-the-floor-drunk rawness and child abusing lyrics of 'Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out.'

Wilco? The Replacements? Shouldn't roadie be part of this conversation?

'Baby Learns to Crawl' is on the Westerberg CD 'Stereo' which is very sparse, acoustic and a lot like his last one. The 'return to the Replacements' sound would be the 'Mono' Grandpaboy CD.

Westerberg is playing a free show at the Virgin Megastore up here next week, and I think I may have to go just to see the man in the flesh.
And this is definitely traversing Roadie's realm of Midwestern aural nostalgia, but he is either too cool or too busy with his double stint as a spry young bellboy and vigorous scholar of recording industry to defend his territory.

Greatest Jeff Tweedy quote ever....

On why Reprise dropped them, Tweedy says Reprise 'reacted like it was Metal Machine
Music (Lou Reed's 1975 hour-long noise assault), and we felt we had handed them a Herman's Hermits record.'

where is this Virgin Megastore that Westerberg is playing located at? i would love to see the man who wrote 'here comes a regular' in the flesh. the replacements were one of the best bands, EVER. Paul Westerberg is amazing.

Unfortunately, it's in Chicago. But umm, it's free. And Wilco is playing the same night.

I can listen to The Replacement's 'The Ledge' so many times in a row... which is perhaps sad since it's a song about a guy jumping off a building, but still it's good.

ok for the first time I really was able to sit down and listen to this album through some headphones and I am loving this album - before I had just listened to it a few times and could not get a strong feel for it but after the headphone listen it made me feel very good about this 'new wilco' I really like the subliminal message at the end of (10) ‘poor places’ where the little voice says “smoke a joint”

Those little voices aren't on the CD... they're just in your head.

lauren, is that you? when are you coming back to nashville so i can finally go to taste of tokyo?

by the way...we, as caring message board members, need to start an intervention with blightman because he tried to convince me of the voices at the end of the track as well. just because you wanted to hear it doesn't make it real, dear. there's a time to pick up the pipe and a time to put it down.
