Anyone know anything about a band called the yeah yeahs? i saw them on letterman a few nights ago and wasn't sure what to think. it seemed as if they had potential, but you can never really tell based on one t.v. performance. Anyone know anything good/bad/indifferent about them?

it's "yeah yeah yeahs." and yeah, i love 'em. "fever to tell" is terriffic. my favorite is their first ep, though. i would really like to see them live. for the longest time i wouldn't listen to them because i hated their name. that was dumb, i'm not gonna do that again. i didn't catch them on letterman, unfortunately. i always forget about stuff like that.

I saw them on Lettermen the other night as well. The song didnt really catch my ear (is that an actual phrase?) but the performance was very good. The lead singer is fun to watch.
i will dig a tunnel from my window to yours.

i actually just caught the last 15 or 20 sec. of it (i'm a leno fan) and maybe it was the lead singer that caught my attention. her outfit was cool in a really weird way. i downloaded some of their songs, apparently the newer stuff is hard to find. I liked what i've heard, but i don't see them replacing any of my fav. bands anytime soon.

after hearing all the hype nyc hype & chatter for yyy's, i looked forward to their letterman performance. i should have saved that anticipation for something more important. the music wasn't all that bad, but karen o. made me sick at my stomach. someone needs to slap that bitch back into 1981, and dropkick the sounds in their collective teeth while they're at it. i thought a band that shared the name of my favorite aaa baseball team would have potential, but no.

yyy's, the sounds, and most other band from brooklyn (save les savy fav and the natural history) should call it a day and go back to their jobs at the bodega. maybe once the features get out there these novelty acts will get it.

I like the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and I enjoyed their appearance on David Letterman. I found the live appearance to be very kick-ass. I would like to thank Ray Davies for suggesting the album. I listen to it and my new Cure singles collection cds a lot.

I've played the yeah yeah yeahs on my radio show some this summer. They are ok, but I ma not totally into it. That's interesting that they are from Brooklyn. They have a very NYC sound. By this I mean loud and not very tight. I hear the reason that NYC bands tend to not be very tight is that practice spaces there are incredibly expensive, so many bands often share them. That means each individual band gets very little time to practice on their own.

I've only heard the first ep a couple of times, and I wasn't absolutely crazy about it. The album, on the other hand, is quite enjoyable. I'm addicted to several of the songs...some of them I could do without.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are okay. They're breakout ep was shit but some of the stuff on their full length is pretty good. They're no saviors of rock. I'm sick of hearing that about every ny band with an affected singer and eyeliner. And the no bass player thing is bullshit, I don't give a shit what Jack and Meg White say.

Kudos to you nueboy. I agree completely.

I read a piece recently describing the Yeah So Whats behavior at a club that they berated and threw a giant baby fit at because it was not nice enough for them. They actually refused to play. "Look at me, I am a giant arrogant weenie!" Never mind the hard working fans who came out and paid good money to see them.

at least when the features throw a fit at clubs it's b/c their fans are being mistreated.
