The other day i bought the new flaming lips album and rushed home to listen what they have conjured up this time. i am amazed beyond amazed. this album is their best work yet. its alot like the style of the soft bulletin but taken up a few notches. very organic album. every needs to hear this! best album of 2002!!!

plus Beck is touring with the lips in october/november.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

Yoshimi is a damn good album, and one of the best of 2002 so far, but i still think it pales in comparison to The Soft Bulletin, but of course it really hard to top greatness...

I didn't like it the first time I listened to it. My favorite release of 2002 has been The Walkmen "Everyone who pretended to like me is gone". Speaking of which, did anyone happen to catch their show at the Slowbar?

I feel like I've given Yoshimi the proper chance and I dig it a whole lot, but I still gotta say The Soft Bulletin is their best. I think TSB is just so much more consistent. On the other hand, Fight Test and YBTPR are pobably my favorite songs from any of their albums. I found 2 of their previous albums (Transmissions... and Clouds...) at Tower for $8 in the bargain bin. I'm really getting into their back catalogue now. It's good in it's own right, but nothing beats Soft Bulletin. Man, I hope they come close to here when they tour with Beck.

I would have to say that while Yoshimi is one of the best albums of the year, my vote would go to either A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay or On a Wire by the GetUpKids right now.

My vote for album of the year so far would be Interpol's "turn on the bright lights". it's fucking amazing.

I like all of the Lips catalog I have, but I seriously think that "Clouds Taste Metallic" is definitely underrated next to Soft and Yoshimi.
