Osfhka, wolhcyro arnmah Irza dywokienagyg tblheibsbu? OK, mrzazyabrerd jiousspter oaenyeac mnaorrdde...

Anyway, enough typed out internal dialog, which do you like the best (and why if you wish). Are PT Anderson's films the dark, cynical cousins to Wes Anderson's films?

By the way, here is the site for (PT)Anderson's new movie, 'Punchdrunk Love'

The clips don't shed much light on what the film is about, but you can bet that it will be dark, and definitely 'outside the box.'

If I hear outside the box much more often I'm going to start thinking outside of my head. Damn bullshit vague corporate lingo.

I am a huge fan of Magnolia. I have always tended to enjoy movies that weren't mainstream and required your attention in order to "get" the story. This topic has reminded me to go out and buy it on DVD. I am glad that someone else appreciates PT Anderson's work.

I enjoy PT Anderson's work. I really enjoyed both Hard 8 and Boogie Nights (I voted for the latter). That said, I thought Magnolia was ok, but very overrated. Mostly because there were so many characters that none of them were very developed and therefore you had no attachment to any of them. Most people seem to disagree with me though.

Punchdrunk Love sounds interesting. Adam Sandler?

I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Had to go with Magnolia... just so much to love about that film. Macy's performance was, as always, amazing, and I love John C. Reily's cop.

As for the characters, I feel that we see enough of all of them to make them worthy of our care. Just me, perhaps, but I think that Anderson picked the right sort of moments to share with us to allow us to build connections on a scarce amount of time.

My biggest problem with Magnolia? It serves too many masters... what is it about? The intro seems to lead you to believe that it is about coincidence, but the sort of perfection of that is ruined by the fact that it doesn't end on that note. The narrator returns, signs off, and the movie continues. It is also about redemption, as is all of Anderson's work. Fatherhood as well... I guess I'd feel better if it was about all of these things but one more than the others... I don't know what the point of the movie truly was in the end.

But its still an amazing peice of epic filmmaking, and deserving of my vote.

You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

Yeah, it's like that other overused-to-the-point-of-meaninglessness corporate term: "proactive."
Anyway, I voted for Magnolia. I've heard the character criticisms a lot & I also know a lot of people that fell asleep during it, but I thought the characters were real enough for me to care about them & be moved by their troubles- which is rare. It's definitely hard to pin down "the point" of it, but that doesn't make it less good to me. I think I enjoy the experience of movies more than their lessons/messages. And Magnolia was beautiful to watch, which gets me every time. Plus I love Julianne Moore and of course Philip Seymour Hoffman...But I probably shouldn't have voted b/c I STILL haven't seen Hard 8, so I'm not completely informed.

I need to see hard eight again. I remember really liking it, it's just been so long. I do enjoy PT Anderson's reuse of cast members. Magnolia was good, it got long though, I remember thinking for sure that when everyone was singing at the same time that the movie was about to end, not quite.
An open frame in the 10th, I WAS ROBBED!
