about 3 weeks ago i purchased the flaming lips album Zaireeka and just got around to listening to it. this is the album that comes in 4 discs and you have to play them all at the same time in order to hear the album.

on my god! words can't describe what this album is like........

when it came out i never bought because the idea seemed a little weird to me. when i finally decided to buy it about 2 years ago to my surprise it was out of print. i finally got a hold of one and i am blown away.

this music is so complex you feel like your on something! we lsitened to it 3 times and each time was different! a simple acoustic track comes out of one stereo....a weird noise out of another.....odd string arrangement from one and a drum track from another......

this album is remarkable.......
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

So, did you manage to get all four discs playing at the same time? Was it hard to sync up?

By the way, I saw several copies at the West End Tower Records for $25 or $30 I think.

I have a mixed copy since I don't have the equipment to play all four. I didn't make it myself, and I think it's missing parts of the tracks. I like the songs as they stand themselves, which is the good thing about having a mixed copy.

its not that hard to get them all to play in sync. the album liner notes state that cd players WILL NOT PLAY IN SYNC. which is true. some of the album is left up to chance. mixed copies do exist. but its not the same. mxing the 8 channels down to 2 channels causes the track be become very muddled together and its very hard to hear everything.

i paid 33 dollars for it. well worth it.

this album is fantastic. i have only heard it a few times on 4 diff stereos, but the idea itself is just incredible, not to mention the actualy musical quality. ph34r.gif
