this from nme.com:
Former SUEDE bandmates BRETT ANDERSON and BERNARD BUTLER have written 15 songs together, and say that the material is "up there with some of the best things we've ever done".

In a posting on Suede’s official website, Anderson reveals that they have a drummer and bassist, and that fans may not have to wait long for new material.

"I know there has been a lot of speculation and rumour about precisely what I'm up to," Anderson wrote, "So I thought I'd set the record straight.

"Firstly I can confirm that me and Bernard are working together again. We've written about 15 songs so far and even though it's early days I can honestly say that I believe the work to be up there with some of the best things we've ever done.

"We have been rehearsing with a drummer and a bass player who will be part of our new band. I can't tell you what we will be called yet but it will not be Suede or Anderson and Butler. We'll be entering a London studio to start recording in June so I'm hoping that you will hear something early next year."

does anyone care about this, besides me? i'm listening to "dog man star" right now, so i just starting thinking about it. suede's first two records are a couple of my all-time favorites, so i have high hopes that they will make another brilliant album or two--any thoughts? is it too little, too late?

Ah yes, Dogstar....featuring Keanu Reeves, just this side of Rollum Haas.
That's so NA.

Of course I care! This is the best news I've heard all year. Now both of them can stop fucking around and get back to actually doing something meaningful. I can't wait.

Now we just need Graham to re-join Blur and Johnny Marr and Morrissey to reunite and the world will be as it should be.

You're right - it's not the same. But I still thought that Think Tank was a good album...just in a different way. It basically sounded like a Damon solo album. It was obviously less guitar-driven, but I thought that it was a really great showcase of Alex's bass playing, which was his best playing to date.

But while Think Tank, much like Gorillaz, was a nice diversion, I do still hope that we'll get another "proper" Blur album someday.

I'd have to say that my least favorite Blur album would be Leisure.

Most certainly not! Im just glad Butler stopped f-ing around with MacAlmont (whatever happened to he'll never play music again, and all that?), I'd listen to it for bernard's sweet-ass guitar, but could barely stand the rest of it, it just seemed so... so gay. And I mean that as in "the worst thing it could possibly be" sense, not the homosexual conotation. I was always of the opinion that Bernard was better off without Bret's whiny voice. Still, the first two suede albums are still in my rotation, and Head Music is one of my guilty pleasures. Actually whenever this album comes out it'll probly take prescidence over whatever is going on at that time. And NO! Its never too late, unless it sounds bad, and they're past their prime. But theyre not so whatever.
THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL

I just love the way Graham's current solo stuff just sounds like prime blur. When he was in blur and writing solo material, a lot of it was really dirgy lo-fi tunes, and now he's just gone pure pop!

Think Tank isn't that bad, but I wouldn't want to listen to another album like it. And blur only got away with it because they're blur.

As for suede, that is just one band I could never fall for. I saw them live a few years ago (without Bernard) and they were really good fun, but I've never got the fanaticism with them. I'm sure there'll be quite a few happy people out there though. I must say I'm rather surprised about the collaboration. I didn't realise Bernard and Brett were mates again.

i really liked "think tank", but i can only imagine it's blinding genius if it had graham's fretwork in place of damon's inept noodlings. anyhow, i think there's great songs on it, and alex's bass playing is paramount.
my favorite blur record would be "parklife", or maybe the s/t. i didn't much care for "leisure" at all, or "13", for that matter.
it doesn't look as if graham will be back in blur antime soon--they've started work on another record without him, and his solo venture is getting rave reviews. from what i've heard "happiness in magazines" is pretty good--it sounds nothing like his older solo stuff: "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!!" etc.

The Great Escape, hands down. It's my favorite album of all time. It's sheer pop perfection.

I also very much love: Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife, and Blur.

13 and Think Tank are very good.

Leisure, though it does have its moments, is mostly crap.
