1. The Walkmen--Bows and Arrows (not only is this the record of the year, it might end up being record of the decade. easily one of the most influential pieces of music on my life in quite some time.)
2. Madvillian--Madvilliany
3.Wilco--A Ghost is Born
4.The Concretes--The Concretes
5.Devendra Banhart--Nino Rojo and the other one
6. Features--Exhibit a
7. Arcade Fire--Funeral
8. Elliott Smith--From a Basement
9.Stereolab--Margerine Eclipse
10.Franz Ferdinand

I just heard the Futureheads record for the first time last night and loved it. so i'm not sure if i should put that one on or not. i liked the a.c. newman record but not quite enough to put it on the best of. I also really liked the Entrance record and the Joanna Newsom record. I'm hesitant to put the Arcade Fire record up there because its the kind of record i can grow to hate...but i'm into it right now, and i recognize that it is, in the least, innovative.

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't like The Walkmen?
nope.
I second that.

Let's see what I can think of...

1. Fluid Ounces - The Whole Shebang
2. The Features - Exhibit A
3. Fugitive Species - Plastic Alibies
4. Calamine - 4 track demos (okay okay, not really an album, but they're freaking great)
5. Nirvana - With The Lights Out (yes, a box set)
6. People You Meet - s/t (actually I think this was 2003...but it's one of the three greatest albums ever, so it can cheat)
7. Tears In X-Ray Eyes - Wonderfully Made (why not)

Yeah, that's a pretty pathetic list. Too bad most of the bands I liked this year haven't released albums...and if they did, I haven't gotten to listen to them yet. I might make an addendum if this thread's still around...

1 Autolux-Future Perfect
2 Tv on the Radio -Desperate Youth,Blood Thirsty Babes
3 Bryan Wilson -Smile
4 Death From Above 1979-You're a Woman, I'm a Machine
5 The Arcade Fire-Funeral
6 Pinback-Summer in Abaddon
7 Beastie Boys -To the 5 Boroughs
8 The Features -Exhibit A
9 Character - We also create False Promises
10 The Icarus Line- Penance Soiree

I didn't vote any of the records our label put out this year .I felt it was wrong to do so . I would feel like a self promoter and it would be a given that i like those records since i chose to put them out.

1. The Features "Exhibit A"
2. The Hives "Tyrannosaurus Hives"
3. Of Montreal "Satanic Panic in the Attic"
4. Franz Ferdinand "Franz Ferdinand"
5. Talking Heads "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads" special 2 disc thingy
- Interpol "Antics"
- Keane "Hopes & Fears"

I was really disappointed in "Antics." The Keane album is good, but I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. I don't have the special "Village Green," but I got the album for Christmas and it would easily place at number 4.
