Any Built to Spill fans around? I caught them last Thursday in Atlanta and it was one of the best shows I've seen all year. Doug Martsch is also a really nice guy. Very polite and soft spoken but he tears it up on stage.

I'm still not sure if I'd call myself a fan, but I saw them last night at the illustrious Freebird Cafe in downtown Jacksonville Beach. The experience mostly reignited my annoyance with my hometown- I swear to god that people were MOSHING. For a moment there, I felt a bit of kinship with stopforme. At least sullen arm-crossers don't push me around when I'm trying to watch some music.

As for the band, I really liked the last album & I mostly like Keep It Like a Secret. The rest of it is pretty boring to me. The show was like this too- the songs I liked were great, the others bored me, especially when they got jammy. Then I had to leave when they started a reggae groove on the last song. Ugh. Doug Martsch does seem like a really nice guy. He encouraged the assholes to stop shoving everyone around so that the rest of us didn't get "bummed out".

I am a fan of the built to spill.

Lauren: Have you heard "There's Nothing Wrong With Love"? Give that one a try, there's nothing jammy about it (I'm assuming you think the jammy one is "Perfect From Now On"??? Most of the songs are 6+ minutes)

Nope I haven't listened to that record with intent, so I'll try it out. I don't know enough about them to pinpoint which era/ albums I don't like. I just know that I saw them in 1997 before I listened to them at all & found them & their songs really annoying. Now I've come around some, but not on all of their music. But I will try "There's Nothing Wrong With Love". Thanks!
