A show we put together at the last minute for ya'll, Wed the 23rd (yes, tomorrow). it's at the Basement, which is the new rock club that Mike "Grimey" Grimes (formerly of the Slow Bar) will be booking for. Its right below the new Grimey's location on 8th avenue, and if you haven't been in there yet then you should come check it out cos its a really cool pad. much cooler than the old slow bar imo. Not sure what time we'll be starting but admission is five bucks. 18 and up.

Grimey says he needs as many people as possible at these first few shows he books so the owner will trust him and give him more freedom to bring in cool bands like he had at the slow bar. So come out and represent ya'll.

And of course, the music will be killer if i do say so myself.

I'll do my best to come check it out. Do they still have a no smoking policy? Should we expect a "lighter set" from all the bands?

i'll be there, provided that it's not a "lighter" set...if it's no smoking, that's ok by me...but if there's no rocking, count me out. for the record, i'll be in attendance despite the fact that it will help grimey out.

Care to elaborate on the lack of love for Grimey? I've heard it before and I'm just curious.

I definitely want to come, but it will have to be late. We need more details, Shneikies. What is the order of bands, what time, will Character be playing "Get Handsome," etc?
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

please don't call me that, keith. order of the bands is probably lylas, LO, character. Not exactly sure what time it'll start, but probably "normal" time. I'll find out for sure and get back to ya'll.

Yes, there will be rocking. Smoking is outside only at the Basement, but there is a covered porch where everyone hangs out.

mike grimes is the man. he is singlehandedly making nashville a decent, interesting city for young people to live in. ill support anything he will benefit from. anyone who has a problem with him has a problem with me.

....but, i dont know him personally.

rest in peace, slow bar. long live the basement.

Does anybody down there love me enough to mail me a copy of a flash of green stuff in water n'stuff, I keep giving my copies away to people who apreciate. I am now copyless and have no access. In the words of Jannine Garofolo "Help Me!."

Great show! Character was back with a vengeance and I hope they continue playing regularly. I'm also excited about the Grimey-booking-shows-again thing. It can only be good for the music scene around here.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

it was a good show, although i was rather tired. it was nice to see some people that i actually like...every now and again, i'll shake off my increasingly reclusive tendencies and remind myself that i am still alive. the basement is kind of cramped--more conducive to the sedate lylas set than character's charged performance. i don't care for all the tables where there could be a display of awkward indie-kid dancing. shame, that.

It was a pretty enjoyable show. I wouldn't go out of my way to see any of the bands individually, but I thought it was a pretty solid performance through and through.

God! I hope I'm not the only one who appreciates how fucking funny this is.
Husband (with surprise and satisfaction)
"Honey . . . Where are all the bags?"
Garofolo (with confidence and relief)
"In the Bag Hutch."
Husband (curios and content)
"No shit?"
Is there no end to the genius of Mr.Show? Oh, wait, its over, nevermind. . . well its still fucking funny.
