Hey what did everyone else think? I thought it was awesome. Mogwai were good, The Rapture surprised me and were good too. Interpol were great.
I got there early and had my spot right up front against the barrier in front of Simon and The Cure were sooooo good. Their set was amazing, could have used maybe one less new song though. During Interpol we could see Robert Smith standing behind the speakers on the left side of the stage, but only when it would strobe or have a flash of light, and better yet, his back was to us and we could only see the outline of his hair. It was really funny, but perfect.
I sent in a request to the cure on their website to play Shake Dog Shake like a month ago, and sure enough, second song, BAM! It was awesome and I almost crapped myself. I'll go ahead and take responsibility for that one.
It actually seemed like there were more people there than I thought there would be. Right before the cure went on it appeared to be pretty packed in.
Overall it was a great time! It was really surreal being that close to one of my all time favorite bands.
Here's the set:

Plainsong, Shake Dog Shake, Fascination Street, The End of the World, Anniversary, Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven, Pictures of You, Maybe Someday, Before Three, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, (I Don't Know What's Going) On, Push, Us or Them, alt.end, One Hundred Years, Disintegration

Encore: Lovesong, Play For Today, A Forest, Boys Don't Cry.

Anyone else go?

I was there. I stayed at the 2nd stage pretty much until Interpol hit the main stage though. I thought Muse was excellent! The Cooper Temple Clause were great. Auf Der Maur were pretty good, but I was shocked at how rude Melissa was when I met her. I guess I shouldn't have been though.

Robert Smith hung around the 2nd stage until Muse started playing. I was shocked that more people didn't notice, but there were so many Robert Smith look alikes around that maybe everyone just thought it was one of them.

Interpol was excellent. I wish they could have played longer though.

I've never been a huge fan of the cure, but I thought they were excellent and I definitely walked away with a greater appreciation for them.

I wish I could have been able to afford the Atlanta show tonight.

i arrived at about 4:15, as i had left myself plenty of time to make the cooper temple clause at 5:00. i was pretty impressed by them, actually. they were much better live than on the few records i've heard. i'm not sure what kind of music it was, but i sort of like that--there were elements of electronica, but the overall sound was about thirty years of british rock innovation all crammed into one glorious clamor. i'm not sure about the lead vocalist, though. i didn't care for his icy demeanor; his liam gallagher-eque posturing (throwing the microphone down, making sure we all knew he had an "attitude") came off inauthentic and studied. his vocals, delivered in a likewise liam-ish nasal whine, too often dissolved into a bland growl. thankfully, though, they rocked, and the jagged shards of sound melted into a wonderously danceable mess. all told, quite good.

i don't have much to say about mogwai--i've seen them a couple of times and been fairly underwhelmed each time. i've heard so many people say the most complimentary of things about them, but i don't get it. there were a couple isolated moments of beauty locked away within minutes of repetitive mush; the lone pure fist-pumping moment sounded like a hollow facsimile of Paranoid Android. i walked away nonplussed and unimpressed.

muse was, as they usually are, ridiculous and awe-inspiring. the only thing i didn't like about it was how short their set was...thirty minutes for muse? c'mon! you almost can't shove their hugeness into a space so small. well, i also could complain about the ear-splitting noise they unleashed, but i liked it too much--even if it did drown out matt's vocals a bit.

after muse, i was done. i watched some of interpol, but i can't get around the vocals sounding way too much like ian curtis. i was by myself the whole time, and never really ran into anyone i knew that was hanging out in the grass--so i didn't even stick around for the cure. i had already seen what i came to see, more or less, and while i have lots of cure records and consider myself a fan...i find i don't have time anymore for 46 year-old men in makeup, and i don't like all the gothic-types in trenchcoats. from the sound of things it was an excellent show, though, so i'm a little sorry i didn't stick it out.

I got there late, but the two songs I caught of Mogwai I enjoyed. The only thing I vaguely liked about Auf Der Mar was the Failure cover, and that's more because of my love for Failure than anything ADM did for the song. Muse was bad ass. It was the first time I'd really heard them and I was extremely enthralled. I'd love to catch them in a club. I stayed away from The Rapture and Thursday, and from what I've heard from them before and what I could make out last night it was a good choice. I know I'm supposed to like Interpol, and I've tried...but I think I dozed off at least twice during their set. The lead singer sounds more like Fred Schneider from the B-52's trying to imitate Ian Curtis. The Cure I enjoyed quite a bit. I wish I had been closer so I could have gotten into the set more.

Chris and I showed up right after Mogwai went on. They were OK. It was good background music for the conversations I was having. I think I have some kind of dyslexica, because I called them "Mogawi" forever without ever properly looking at their name. I think my name sounds better. Say it out loud. Mo-Gaw-E.

I like The Rapture...I've listned to them many a time while driving in cars, and it's just fun. I would like them better in a club atmosphere than a festival, though. I do want to give them five of five stars for the most rockin' cowbell player this side of the Mississippi.

I like Interpol. I liked seeing them live. It was good, and I'm sorry it couldn't have been longer. I thought they put on a fantastic live show and I wish I could have been closer.

The Cure was nice. Bobby Smith's voice hasn't changed a bit over the 3 decades or so he's been at it, which was a pleasant surprise. I liked it. I liked the encore even better, 'cause I'm a poser and I knew all the encore songs.

after narrowly getting a ticket at the last minute, i showed up a little late and missed cooper temple clause, though we could hear the last song as we walked in.. a shame, i've got one of their records and i like em.

i've seen mogwai before, and was a little saddened that they played much abbreviated versions of their songs... 'hunted by a freak' is one of my favorite songs and they cut out most of the loud part... 'mogwai fear satan' was pretty good, especially as an opener.

auf der maur... ehh... i got a little tired of her dancing around after the first song. there were parts of the songs i enjoyed, and they were worth watching (since i paid for it), but i'm not gonna buy a record.

i missed the rapture to get a front spot for muse.

muse was the reason i went to the show... i've wanted to see them for about 3 years, and even though it was just 30 minutes, i was blown away. i wish they had played a song or two off their first record, but at least they did a few from origin of symmetry. stockholm syndrome is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and it was a great closer... i got some pretty good pictures.

i haven't heard much interpol, i enjoyed what i saw.

we stayed for about half of the cure's set... again, i'm not a huge fan, but i liked what i heard. we were all just pretty tired, hungry and unwilling to pay for overpriced, crappy food (we went to waffle house immediately after).

oh, and i saw carligula after auf der maur, even though he doesn't really know me...

we got there right before interpol came onstage. i loved them, but i hated the short set. chloe loved that they played evil off of the new cd. (she also thought they were cute.) the cure was good, also. well, it was a good start and good finish. carlos headed toward the pit for their set. i loved the stage lighting during pictures of you. loved it. i left to take a bathroom break during the middle and ran into interpol's new keyboard player, d'gallo. he's french, and i was liking it. we probably talked thru 2 songs. and chloe finally danced. she also thought the cure's drummer looked like green goblin from spiderman and she liked r. smith's "cherry red lips."
oh and some creepy guy in a flannel and with facial hair kept staring at me between interpol and the cure. as he got closer he greeted me and kissed me on the cheek. it was harmony korine looking really bad. after the show he waved bye to me and chloe (who he remembered from nye) and my friend annie was like 'ew, who was that?'

and mel adm the psycho walked in front of me.

I played Poker with them and got my ass handed to me.

http://www.1029thebuzz.com/html/the_cure.html

That would be me with the black Stiff Little Fingers short sitting between Matt (vox) and Dom (skins). I missed a couple of openers due to the poker game but I couldn't pass on an opportunity to meet Muse. I saw them open for Foo Fighters/RHCP in 2000 in Knoxville and I've been a fan ever since. Their show was electrifying. I managed to catch the tail-end of The Rapture and I wasn't too impressed. I don't understand how they made it to the main stage while Muse got pushed to the 2nd stage?

Interpol put on a nice set although it was a bit sedate. I don't know if it was the venue or what but it seems like Interpol is more of an "indoor" type of band. The new tracks were welcome.

The Cure were much more impressive than I could have expected. I would have preferred to see them in their heyday but you can't complain. I was glad that they played a good mix of old and new. The visuals were very cool...very psychedelic. I wouldn't have really put The Cure as a band for tripping but I guess it sells tix.

i enjoyed the show, though it was hard to really get into it from grass seats.
liked the rapture a lot, even though ray davies claims that there was some cowbell-synching going on.
loved interpol. i thought they played a perfect set and i wish i could've been in that pit. i really liked all the songs from the new album, especially "evil." can't wait to get that.
i enjoyed the cure a lot, even though i'm just a casual fan. my favorite part of their set was this crazy dancer that i can't even begin to describe. i wish i had a video phone.
the between set conversation was also very nice. miss9, you must grace us with your presence much more often.

From outside the gate, I thought Cooper Temple Clause sounded like any other dime-a-dozen bland brit-pop band.

Despite being an instrumental band, Mogwai managed to hold much of my attention for their half-hour set. I think they get a band rep. I've seen much worse instrumental bands.

Auf Der Maur was rocking, but man, that chick has no vocal talent whatsoever. The rock star posturing got a little old, too. The cover was a nice touch. It reminded me of when I actually saw Failure play that stage at Lolla 1997-- back when there were good summer festivals.

Rapture's music was great and exciting, but that dude's vocals annoy the shit out of me. I just wanted it to end.

I was blown away by the onslaught of Muse, but it got pretty old after the first few songs.

Interpol was awesome! Not much to look at, though (not that I could see too well from the grass).

I skipped Thursday because I know better.

I was really impressed with how beautiful Robert Smith still sounds. That guy has mastered his vocal chords like none other. The sound there was amazingly good, too. I will admit, that I really wanted to hear the hits. The new stuff ain't bad, but they should realize that the average concert goer wants to hear Lovecats, Friday I'm in Love, and Close to Me. I left about 3/4 of the way through.

Oh, and it was nice meeting you, dontstaylong. I'm glad you saw the Features shirt.

Hey Sina I'll admit those guys did look pretty good. Plus their light show was awesome.
Why was the bass player wearing a holster? It'd be awesome if he packed heat. I want to start carrying a gun too.
