this here is the features' message board. i mean, you may have had to type in www.thefeatures.com sometime right before you ended up here. and a little tip: before you go to a band's message board and post about a different band, you may want to first mention the band who's message board you are using. it's just common courtesy. and it may eliminate most of the bitching at that you'll already get as a new member of such a band's message board.

I don't think asking for the whereabouts of a DND bootleg or so on a Features message board really warrants such verbal abuse. Okay, sure, it's frowned upon, but he doesn't deserve to be called a "dumb bitch" for it. I'm with Sina. This person has made three DND related posts and nothing else. Lord knows there's plenty of Features talk to be had if this person had any interest. But in fact, we've thus far got nothing but DND, and bootleg-begging at that. I have no problem with Features fans discussing all manner of things here, but that just doesn't seem to be the case. It feels like "I want something from a Nashville band; I'll ask the folks on the messageboard for that really big Nashville band, because they're likely to have it." Maybe I'm misconstruing, but we waste our own time with useless crap enough already. No need to add more.

Which isn't to say that SAE shouldn't be helped. I just don't think this sort of thing needs to be encouraged, or even tolerated if you aren't down.

Last night, someone asked me where to get DND live shows, and I referred them here because I knew that RD and others probably had a stash of bootlegs. Since they had never been on the board before, they didn't know who to PM.

Thanks again Sina, for being so welcoming to new MB members! If this is the person I spoke with last night, they have been at every Features show for the past year and 1/2 since they moved to Nashville, they just had never been on the board before.

I'll be sure to keep telling everyone how great our local scene is here, and to come to this board so that you can tell them to piss off.

Is this part of the forum not a place to talk about other bands? Do you HAVE to state, "I like the features...and by the way..." No, you don't. Please reread the sentence "You like stuff other than the Features, so talk about it here. Local bands, here's your chance to announce upcoming shows too!" poohbear's girl raises a good point. There really isn't a big "Tennessee Scene" kind of site that has a message board that you could go to for general bootleg questions. The Features board definitely appears to be the largest, most commonly visited board relating to MidTN rock, so it's a logical place to start in search of bands from the same location. This person obviously does like The Features, but even if he didn't, who cares? From the way some of you are reacting, it seems like you were rather ticked off about SoundAsEver's failure to officially proclaim his love of The Features prior to making any other MidTN scene-related posts. If something like that honestly gets you to lean back in your computer chair, raise a clenched fist, and say "Ohhh, that makes me so mad!" you really need to chill out a little. Sure, it's annoying, but it's not like there are five inquiries per day or something ridiculous like that.

Eh, whatever. That's my 2 cents...sorry if I pissed someone off or something.

I don't mean to be so Draconian about such things. I just don't see this board as the "Middle Tennessee Music" board, but as a Features board. I like it that way. Features fans like other bands as well as The Features, that's why they made a forum on this board titled "Music" with the description of "You like stuff other than the Features, so talk about it here. Local bands, here's your chance to announce upcoming shows too!".

If this board brings people here to talk about ANYTHING, then it's good. You have to visit The Features website to get to the message board, and therefore, might go to one of their shows, buy an album, or become more dedicated to the band by finding friends here.

I don't understand why people get upset when new members don't immediately jump into a discussion about The Features or their music in their first few posts. I have been going to Features shows for 7 years, and hardly any of my posts are about them specifically. Does that mean that I am not a real fan? I don't think so...

i think it can be annoying. like when people come to promote thier band and dont say a word about the features. however, in this case, its silly to get angry at someone for not tracking down a thread where he can say something about the features before asking for help. honestly. there are like three features related threads active right now. if he didnt go to the show, he would have no where to post anything about the features. and its only been one freaking day. give him a chance!

That's exactly why my first post wasn't about The Features. All of the threads about them right now are about the two 12th & Porter shows, which I unfortunately had to miss. I really wanted to go, but there were multiple unavoidable reasons that kept me away.

So I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off, but there's nothing I can contribute to the current Features discussion. And this is the Misc. category, anyway. I belong to another message board where most people first post in the "General Discussion" category rather than about the author whose board it is, and it's really not a big deal. If there were an introductions thread or something, I'd be happy to post in it and tell all of you why I love the Features.

Every show we have played has helped us, no matter how shitty you think the bands we've played with are. There is more involved than just finding the bands that you think are cool and jumping on their shows. Why don't you find your own band to book if you think you can do a better job.

I haven't been scared away, but the only threads I could post in still aren't about the Features. And we all know what happens when I post about anything other than them...

Obviously I created this board to talk about music-related subjects other than The Features. I discussed having a separate music board just dedicated to local bands, but we thought that might be too many boards (I know some of you think there's too many now).

I see where Sina's coming from. Sometimes there's just a tad too many posts about DND around here. But I know a lot of people like them and some of the members of the band post here because they're fans of The Features first (I'm guessing, they better!). Daigle, the All Holy One himself, wants this place to be a community where fans of THE FEATURES gather to talk about the band and... lots of other stuff. I think as long as people follow this, whether they talk about DND, Slack (which deserve a lot more discussion by the way if anybody else does!), sex or whatever... as long as their purpose here is because of The Features, first and foremost, and all the other stuff second, then we shouldn't have any problems.

I've never actually seen them play, but I heard them open up for the Presidents at Tucker Theatre. I really liked what I heard, I was very impressed. I wasn't aware that band members were also present on this board.

I had to work that night, I remember holding the door open for the drummer, whoever that may be, and fending off advances from that jackass rent-a-cop who was hanging around backstage and throwing insults at the band.

what I posted last night was pretty mean, even by our quarrelsome standards. Just wanted apologise for it personally. All I can do is ask you to please stop berating poohbear's girl. Yeah, I was thinking earlier that I sorta remembered Nightshade in the context of a Shadowgate-style game, but I think I was thinking about Deja Vu, which I'm pretty sure is the "getting stuck in a car trunk" game.
