Well, they finally listed it on the Barsuk page and say it takes place at the Exit/In. Pollstar is now reporting Mates of State only playing at some club called "TBA". Hmmm, never heard of it.

Read what? Was there more to that statement?

On a separate, lighter note Mr. Davies, I found a promotional CD that I got when we were in 8th grade with "Novacaine For The Soul" by the Eels, "Scooby Snacks" by the Fun-Loving Criminals, and a song by D Generation. Have any recollection of listening to that in English class?

For those without good connections like myself, two songs from the new DCFC album can be found here.

I'm quite pleased with what I'm hearing. If you've never heard these guys, the first song "New Year" is a pretty good introduction.

After listening to the album a few times, I can now say that I am pleased with it. I hate to admit that I am not a huge fan of the Postal Service album so I'm glad that all the songs don't sound like those. I think I will grow to love it just like all the other DCFC releases. I am officially excited for the show now.

While I love to admit I am a huge fan of the Postal Service, I'm also glad the album doesn't sound like it. From the two songs I've heard, this could easily be The Photo Album vol. II (which to me is a good thing). I hope we get a new Postal Service album soon, but I also want Gibbard to let Death Cab stick to their guns.

Okay, I'm also starting to let myself get excited about the show.

did everyone enjoy the show? death cab rocks & i hope they make good on their promise to come back soon. i was amazed at the number of people who didn't get in (i figured it would sell out, i just didn't expect it to be so nuts!)
i no longer hate mates of state (though i don't necessarily "like" them by any means). but no other band has made me faint before, so i'll give them credit for that (i really did faint during their set).
i left before death cab's encore and missed "i was a kaleidoscope"--darnit!

i was one of the lucky people who managed to get in. i was first in line with IWantElvis and James Riot (he also managed to get in). the show was awesome. death cab were fucking amazing. i was so happy that they played "bend to squares" (its my favroite death cab song). i too also hope that they make good on their promise to come back very soon. mates of state were merely "OK" in my book (my level of distaste for them has decreased a fair amount). i thought that there were certain parts of their songs that were good, but their set left much to be desired. i enjoyed some of the keyboard parts in the songs though. i would have been much happier if nada surf has opened up rather than mates of state.

i just want death cab to come back as soon as possible.

sorry that you fainted, smee.

Yeah, BrianW and I saw that, but we just figured you were faking it so you could get backstage. Hope it didn't cut down on your enjoyment of the show smile.gif

A damn damn damn good show this was. I forgot how awesome MoS are!!! As much as I love Death cab, I thought their set was a bit on the long side. As much as I appreciate how they played selections from all their albums, I think they've progressed so much over the years that it made their set just a little uneven. So, if I had to cut down the set, I would have prefered they trimmed a few songs from the first two albums (as long as we still got For What Reason and CC Epilogue). As much as I wanted to hear All is Full of Love, I thought it was a poor choice to end with. Don't get me wrong, though-- despite my many complaints, I still loved it.

I'm glad I got an advance ticket.

smee is such a great friend that even though she wasn't wild about MOS she wanted me to be able to hang out with them backstage, so she faked fainting..haha. actually, we were a bit worried about her, but all she kept doing was apologizing time after time about us missing part of the show. or maybe it was all a ploy for her to get to drink coke?!
the show was so much freaking fun, i can't even elaborate. i'll try... i had so much fun it was like i was a ten yr. old at a new kids concert! does that give an accurate description of the fun that was had?!

I enjoyed the show as well and agree with Carl that it was a tad long. I probably felt it more because standing up for over 2 hours straight is a bit hard on a leg once broken twice just a few months ago. Still, I was pretty darned impressed with Mates of State and once again Death Cab rocked.
