What wonderful news to wake up too. Although, I'm sure we'll have to endure a Stapp solo project now before he falls off the face of the earth for good.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Stapp is working on a solo album with hip-hop producer 7 Aurelius, according to a Wind-Up Records spokesperson.

The thought of this aboration being thrust upon the world is spine chilling. I wonder how you bust a J-Pose while doing hip-hop?

Also, the statement that Creed was one of the most successful rock bands in the last ten years is mind-blowing, I'm not doubting it one bit, just seeing it in black and white just proves to me the vacuos wasteland that the rock world has been in the last decade.

Or better yet, a full scale tour with the living members of the Doors. Maybe they can dig up Morrison's corpse and defile him on stage as the encore.

I thought this was already in the works with Ian Ashbury from The Cult.

Do you think they'll need a permit to dig up the remains?

Maybe not. France has wanted to get rid of the Lizard King for quite some time.

I saw Creed live about 4 years ago when they came to Knoxville. They could have just blasted the CD really loud, I couldn't tell a difference. That was one expensive date. Of course, true love(at the time) transcends bad music.

I guess when they sold 24 million albums. When it comes down to it, there haven't been many popular rock bands in the last 10 years. I mean, I don't know how many albums Limp Bizkit sold, but as sad as it is, they are probably the next closest thing to "biggest rock band." Nirvana may have been bigger historically speaking, but a)they were already done 10 years ago, and B)I'm not sure they even sold as many albums as Creed. Maybe Fact Checker can get that sort of information...

According to SoundScan, Nirvana's career album sales break down as follows: the group's 1989 debut, Bleach, has sold 1.44 million copies to date, followed by 1991's Nevermind at 7.65 million, the 1992 B-sides/rarities collection Incesticide at 1.13 million, and the band's final studio album, 1993's In Utero, at 3.58 million. Nirvana's two posthumous live releases, 1994's MTV Unplugged in New York and 1996's From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah (both of which were assembled by Grohl and Novoselic) have sold 4.11 million and 1.15 million copies, respectively.

total sales: 19.06 million records

Oh, and the Greatest Hits album sold somewhere between 1 and 2 million (it was certified platinum, but not multi-platinum). If someone wants to pay me to subscribe to Soundscan, I'll find you exact numbers.

Damn, you're handy to have around.

I would have thought In Utero would've sold more than 3.58 million. I mean, that's like, a dissapointing effort for Britney Spears, right?

This is my favorite part of the article:

The pinnacle of Creed's problems took place in Chicago in December 2002. Whether Stapp was inebriated or simply sick, as he had claimed, his performance was so terrible that some members of the crowd sued the band for sucking. For a band proud of its reputation for exciting and passionate performances, such a show was inexcusable. Some fans even balked at Stapp's heavy-handed Christ-like poses, which he claimed symbolized that he "had some things going on in [his] life," "kind of felt alone" and "didn't think anybody had [his] back at the time" (see "Creed Singer Defends 'Symbolic, Personal Gesture' He Made At 'Drunken' Show").

I was THRILLED when I found out this news. My friend Neal (who actually likes the "old" Creed stuff..haha) messaged me and said that he thought that I would be happy. He was right.

Fuck a bunch of Creed. I'm glad they're over.

creed had seemingly been exhaulted from the major rock radar anyway. I'm pretty apathetic about their departure at this point. however, it (hopefully) could be a symbolic sign for the future of that genre, which has been dead to sensible people for years.

Frankly, I'm slightly bothered that this is even news. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there will be no more Creed albums, but I hadn't even heard of the band in ages. So help me, if this is some publicity bullshit so they can sell some more records and then get a "reunion" show together next summer, I'm calling up Jesus to stake someone with a cross.
That's so NA.

Hopefully this isn't the case. In fact, it sounds like the rest of the band has already moved on. From MTV.com:
"Quote"
With a lineup that's essentially the original incarnation of Creed minus Scott Stapp, Alter Bridge seem like Mark Tremonti's attempt at backtracking to a simpler time, before the Stapp-related tensions that eventually crippled the group ever began.

Still, the guitarist insists Alter Bridge are no Creed continuation. With Creed having run their course — a forthcoming greatest-hits album notwithstanding — the energies of Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall are focused on their future with new singer Miles Kennedy. And since none of the bandmembers has spoken to Stapp in the four months since the split, it doesn't look like Creed will be rising from the ashes anytime soon

anti-semitic means anti-jewish. christian and jewish are not even close to being the same thing...it worries me considerably i would have to point this out to anyone; i trust i just misunderstood and you don't hate jewish people or christians, just creed.
