TOPIC: Eels/MC Honky--Mercy Lounge--Saturday

So, as dissapointed as I was with their performance at the Uptown Mix opening for the Flaming Lips, I want to give these guys another shot in a more cozy setting. I'm currently digging on some Electro-Shock Blues and wondering if anyone else plans on going to the show.

For those who don't know, the Mercy Lounge is on 8th ave S in downtown Nashville (near all the strip clubs and whorehouses). They're playing there this saturday, MC Honky is opening, and the show is $10 advance, $12 door. Doors open at 8pm, show starts at 10pm.

damn i wish i could go more than anything but im stucking going to a family function in chicago over the weekend. I love them eels!

I'm surprized by your dissapointed towards the Uptown Mix show though. What exactly turned you off? I had a few minor complaints:
-Too much of the concert were songs off the new album (which aren't nearly as amazing as anything of off Beautiful Freak or Electro-Shock Blues.
-The audience (surprize surprize) sucked.

But other than that, it was great seeing them. Their live rendition of "Novocaine For The Soul" is always great.

Have fun at the show {/Envy}
Eh.

Well, the audience didn't help. Being an outdoor show, the sound was less than spectacular. I think they started with like 4 cover songs, which pissed me off.

Eventually, I felt they picked up some momentum, though-- both with the crowd and with their song selection. I think I like their last two albums about as much as their first two (I have yet to hear Daisies..), so I wasn't too disappointed with the setlist.

I'll be at the Josh Rouse show at the Exit/In; otherwise, I would go.

Yep, but he plays here every few months, so don't be too upset. I do think that this may be kicking off a tour, so it may be a little while before he's back.
