I got the new Hot Hot Heat album, Elevator, on Monday, and I have to say Im really impressed. I thought this album might have been where they'd slip up, but it's a cracker. Its another almost faultless effort from the lads. Some say its too poppy or 'clean-sounding', but its a hell of a lot of fun, and its full of memorable songs. Recommended.

This is seriously freaky - ive done that watching the video a million times thing too! And i also love Steve's hair! Long boingy curly hair is so cool!

I got elevator the other day and after the first listen i thought it was quite good. After the second listen i thought 'im going to be hooked on this by next week'. I havent had a third listen yet... but i can just tell im going to love it when the tunes become more familiar.

It sounds more organised somehow, than their last album, in a good way. Anyone agree?

I also got The Futureheads album from amazon... hmmmm not quite what i was expecting but then again buying it was a bit of a gamble because i had only heard one song!! I dont really like the way they all sing one note and then layer them on top of each other too much. Which is pretty bad because thats their speciality isnt it??!!

Oh well

But elevator sounds very 'fun'. I'll be seeing hot hot heat at leeds festival in the uk this summer - hope theyre good live. Anyone seen them?

I went to see HHH on Friday and it was a great show. I thought the new stuff sounded real good. I was really surprised they didnt play 'Shame on You' off the new album, cause its about the best track on it- should be a single.
Heres the setlist (not sure of the order);

No, Not Now
Ladies and Gentlemen
You owe me an IOU
Talk to me, Dance with me
Dirty Mouth
Island of the Honest Man
Picking It Up
This Town
Goodnight, Goodnight
Elevator
Middle of Nowhere
Lost and Naked in the City
Running Out of Time
Bandages

Encore;

Jingle Jangle
Oh, Godammit

It was a great set, they really rattled through it.

I was a bit disappointed they played nothing off the Knock Knock Knock ep. When ive seen them in the past they played a couple off tracks off it. I suppose theyve got more material to work with these days.

Must mention support band, The Departure. I reckon these guys could make it big, they sound really promising.

Ive got The Futureheads album, and I have to admit it does get old a little too quickly for my liking. I saw them supporting the Rapture early '04, and I thought they were crap, but after hearing a few singles i got the album. I enjoyed it at first, but havent listened to it for months.
Maximo Park are sounding good, but Ill have to hear a little more from them before I consider a purchase.
Check out The Departure for a similar style of music, album out some time in June I think.

catchy album - also one of the most clinical sounding albums ive ever, ever heard. and i think singer dude's been auto-tuned.

i don't care about hot hot heat, but garygarygary is definitely one of my favorite messageboard names. (if it's a reference to a song or movie or something, i don't want to know.) it's right up there with tacopussy.

i didn't like the futureheads at first, but i must admit that i do enjoy it when it's played now. still not enough to buy the album.

"Shame on You" is pretty damn good. A lot of their songs seem to really grow on you!

I've just seen that they're releasing Middle of Nowhere as the next single; this is crazy, its a pretty dull track. There are at least five stronger songs on the album.
Surely 'Island of the Honest Man' and 'Shame On You' deserve a single release.

I just saw the video for "middle of nowhere." A bit disturbing the clip in the toilet but anyway. It'll probably begin to climb the NME chart along with the arctic monkeys. Afterall, surely your getting tired of the kaiser chiefs by now! All they do is shout!
