No Lambchop probably equals no me. Sorry Acklen. I hear Kid Rock's going to be there though.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

By the way, TWO new Lambchop albums ("Ah Cmon" and "No You Cmon") are coming out on the 17th. I can't wait.

Mojo loved them, but I was more interested in the veiled shout-out given to Character in their review...something about how the instrumental rock band that William plays in influenced their new albums. Am I wrong?

I haven't seen the review, but I have heard that William is sort of the "featured" member on these records in the way Tony (the pianist) was the featured member on Is A Woman. William denies this, but he is humble.

The thing that's wrong with Acklen is that most of the people who hang out there are fucking morons. The guys that actually live there are cool but beyond that it's a pretty mixed bag.

Oh well, The Mattoid will be there. Sans any bands, Acklen still has better parties than anywhere else.

Hmm...of the five or so that I've been to, this one was pretty mediocre in comparison. No half-naked girls, no trashed Sina, no dimly-lit rooms with mucho hedonism...what happened?! But hey, the Mattoid played "Cocksuckers" and that made up for a lot of it.

the bands:

roadie: nate dodd? come on! my psycho ex played with him years ago (i've spent too long in that sad town known as dyersburg) and i remember thinking "if i have to hear another one of his sappy love songs, i'll scream."
i feel embarrassed for him.

the mattoid was excellent and i'm really looking forward to friday.

apollo up is a jam band

the puppet show would've been alot better if some fucking moron (who also kept announcing that he wasn't old enough to drink) would've shut the fuck up.

and on command! was fucking awesome. dallace busting his head open with a possible concusion at the beginning of the show was the peak of my night.

that night i found out i could pass for a 17 year old, made up with an olddd friend, had some gay emo guy yell at me, and found out that carl's make over is indeed working for him.

oh and mitch was gettin all the play! what's up with that?

i just read this over at the lambchop site:

One of the things that happens when we make a record is that usually one member of the band ends up stepping forward into the spotlight. They end up being featured by the fact that the things that they add to the songs make an indelible impression on the music. It can happen subtly or in some cases it can be a dominant effect. William Tyler managed to do both. Through the course of both of these records he has managed to put his mark within the music. As with his predecessors, Tony Crow on “is a woman” and Paul Neihaus on “Nixon,” William has unwittingly contributed both his youthful dynamics and energy to these particular selections of material. We have also marveled at his sense of melody and playfulness when it comes to his interpreting the songs. Notably, this instrumental does not appear in the film score.
Of course it's dark. It's a suicide note
