alright so i suspect that there are other secret fiona apple fans around here. her long-in-the-making new album came out on tuesday. i was just wondering what everyone thought. here's what i think:

it has a lot of really great songs. as a whole, it's definitely not as good as "when the pawn," but it's still very very good. i would like some of the songs a lot more if they were shorter, some of them get repetitive. some of the tracks have funky beats, and i dig them.

most awesome songs: the title track, "better version of me," "tymps (the sick in the head song)," "parting gift," and "not about love"

least awesome songs: "o'sailor" and "window"


if this thread bombs let's use it to talk about saved by the bell or something.

ive only heard the rejected version of this album, but from what i have heard of the new version i must say that fiona needs to fire her drum programmer.

I'm a fan, but I haven't heard the album yet.

I thought the rejected version was exponentially better than the official version out now.

I don't know about Fiona Apple's new album, but here are my thoughts on Saved by the Bell. Where the hell did Kelly and Jessie go for those few episodes in which Tori, the leather jacket-motorcycle chick, was in? Was cheerleading just too much for Kelly? Was Jessie tired of being called "mama" by everyone? What the hell happened to them?
And another thing, remember the Zack and Lisa romance? It lasted one episode. Shortest relationship ever.

I have too much free time. This is sad.

i think kelly was in france modeling during the tori years. i dont remember where they said jessie went.
oh and the zach/lisa thing didnt work because screech tore zachs turquoise silk button-up over her. i thought that shirt was so hot back then.

so i finally broke down and bought this album the other day (first album ive bought in at least a year). i would have to say that its good, but its really not as good as i was hoping. i dont know if its because of all of the "hoopla" around the album controversy or what, but i felt like i could hear how tired she was re-recording these songs. with the exceptions of a few songs, i think her vocal performance was pretty boring, knowing what shes capable of. plus, a couple songs sounded like rehashed melodies from the two previous albums. there is really only one good balad, which are ususually my favorites on her albums. the exceptions i like- song numbers 1, 5, 6, 10, 11.
