I just got off the phone with Vacant Cage Records and am transmitting the following update about the Fluid Ounces show for them.
First of all, the previously announced info: it's this July 3rd at Wallstreet in Murfressboro @ 9 PM, Seth's first TN show in over a year. They will be selling the new Fluid Ounces record, The Whole Shebang, as well as a new t-shirt. Seth will be playing some of the show solo, and five songs with Popular Genius (who also open) playing as his full backing band. Some of those five songs will even be accompanied by a four-piece horns section.
Now for the new info: Matt Mahaffey of Self will be playing 3 songs with Seth, which will be tunes that he and Seth collaborated on to make (examples but not necessarily what will be played: Happy Accidents, Shelf Life, etc. Note that these songs were just examples I picked off off the top of my head: these may or may not be actual parts of the set, my guess is as good as yours). While this is a very exciting development, please note that Matt will be playing with Seth for only 3 songs! Don't show up expecting a Self set, but I'm sure most of you will just be happy to see Matt on a Tennessee stage again after all these years.
While I would definitely consider a Seth Timbs solo show more than worth attending, these guest appearances only sweeten the deal. It will truly be a night to remember, so if you can possibly attend the show at all, I highly recommend that you do!
