I just bought their self-titled album last week and must say that I'm enjoying it very much.

I know they were competing with the Features on some poll a while back (can't remember which one). Competition aside, I am becoming a fan.

Any other thoughts?

There's a little thing in the video that looks a lot like Bruce Willis.

i think ff are ok and everything...but all that 'i'm sexy, me' crap does pall a bit, doesn't it? especially when they look the way they do. i dunno, i've only heard a couple of songs here and there so it makes me unqualified to really say much other than that. they seem to have chosen their moniker by way of 'the lexicon of inadvisable band names, vol. III', which is a shame...

hey jc. i suppose if we're both on the mb neither one of us is working then. i had another user name before but i forgot it completely so i had to get a new one...and with a paucity of creativity that would stagger even the heads of the tennessean, i went with my actual name. oh well, atleast i won't be able to forget it...

I didn't know about the ATL show that's awesome but I like their music. I've only heard a few songs.

Ray Davies played that album over and over again when he first got it, so I got really sick of it very quickly...like within one day. But, listening to it more recently I enjoy it more. I really like several songs, and I enjoy the vocals a lot. But, overall, it's not anything I would normally be crazy about.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

I haven't really given the band a chance yet, but their fans piss me off by calling them ff.

FF = Foo Fighters!!

You've been warned.

the foo fighters also suffer from having one of the worst band names ever. i will forever assert that they aren't much better than their name. they're harmless enough, compared to the blink 182s and nickelbacks of the world...but seriously, i don't think i've ever heard a ff song that turned me on. monkeywrench? nu-uh. some silly-ass song about cows? nope. so if franz ferdinand can show up with the tunes to usurp that ff abbreviation, it's all theirs in my book...of course, whether they can or not remains to be seen. i like their logo, though.

I think Foo Fighters are great. Dave Grohl is the hardest working man in rock and roll. I agree, their name sucks and so do Monkey Wrench and the song about cows, but I've got a couple of their albums and it is just some really well-made rock music, with some real depth in places. Listen to "February Stars".

he may well be the hardest working man in rock n' roll, but to me that's hardly an endorsement...i like my songwriters to make it look easy, and with so much great music out there to be sought out and adored, i've hardly got time for a band who have certain songs that, in my unesteemed opinion, are rubbish...i'm a student of geniuses, not drummers who deal in heavy-handed heavy-rotation grungified nonsense...that said, as i stated before, there's no real harm in them other than mediocrity and lamentable facial hair...i'll save all my true venom for the hatemongers of the hip-hop world and all the sex-pop puppets who are still lining up to take the money and innocence of thirteen year-old girls everywhere. man, i am totally pissed off today. i keep singing "i hate my job" along with the tune of belle & sebastian's "i love my car"...and it's making me feel better, but only marginally so.

I dont know...
the colour and the shape is a great example of really good melodic rock. and not at all mediocore.
the muscianship of "everlong" cant be argued with.

and i really liked their cover of "Nicki."

as long as you are not lumping all of hip-hop and pop together as something that is decaying the rest of culture, i will agree that therein is where ourmusical society's problems lay.
that and three doors down.

no, no...i'm sure the foo fighters have their share of good tunes, that's not really the issue...and though i'm very white, as anyone who knows me can attest, my qualms with hip-hop are only with the hatemongers. i actually do like outkast, particularly andre 3000, but that's more or less hip-hop for people who don't like hip-hop anyway. i don't go around listening to it cos it feels kind of inauthentic, but if it's on, i dig it...pop music can mean a whole hell of a lot of things--but it's the sex-pop, the teeny-pop, the boy bands and little harlots like christina aguilera that i find offend my sensibilities more than anything.

I'm down with the Foo Fighters, and I really don't think it's such a bad band name. I still haven't heard Franz Ferdinand, though I don't really like their band name. As a rule, I don't like band names that sound like a first and last name. Other examples: Freedy Johnston, Jethro Tull. It's just confusing. First name only band names are good, though. Examples: Travis, Gene, James.

Where can I find this Foo Fighters version of "Darling Nikki"?

He gets off on a technicality since those are both first names.

If it was just called Jamie Carroll, it would be a bad egg. But the "the" and the "s" on the end make it ok.

I like Franz Ferdinand pretty well. I don't think that they live up to the hype, though "Take Me Out" is an exception. Some of the lyrics are a bit half-assed, it seems. Half of the songs do very little to grab me. The other half, I like quite a bit.

I like Franz Ferdinand. some of it, anyways.
