I enjoyed the show at the BSC on Friday. GRS's music grows on me with each passing day. The last 3 or 4 songs of the set were absolutely great and probably my favorites. The middle of the set didn't grab my attention that well, but it may be because I haven't heard those particular songs very much. I'm hesitant to give a firm opinion until I hear them more. One thing that kind of confused me was that I often couldn't pick out one guitar over another. I spent a little time trying to figure out who was playing what. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I should probably get more used to this band's music before I begin critiquing it.
I'd like to see GRS on more bills with prominent Nashville bands, instead of say...Luna Halo or Weatherspoon. When I say prominent Nashville bands, I obviously mean good prominent Nashville bands. And, it wouldn't hurt for them to get the hell out of Cookeville.
When's the next show?
I see your point RD…It is hard discern new music without any reference before hand…all the material GRS played at BSC was new material…and the band line-up was not the best…I don’t know when the next show will be but I will let you know…I would love to see them play with The Features again…but that is a hard slot to obtain…Seeing them with De Novo Dahl, The Mattoid, The Privates or any other recommended Nashville bands would be a treat…
As far as having a better reference to the music is concerned I would like to make an open offer to any and all of the message board members…Green Rode Shotgun has just recently finished record all new material with Brian Carter for label demo purposes…It will most likely never be released…
If anyone wants a copy of this new material just send me your mailing address/info and I will send you the new Green Rode Shotgun/Brian Carter CD…spread the word if you feel so inclined…
Also: I had the pleasure of meeting YDDD and Token at the show…very nice people indeed…great talking with you and I hope to see you again soon…
