TOPIC: greetings from knoxville

hi folks. my name's jeff and i'm in a band called the westside daredevils. just thought i'd introduce myself and mention a couple noteworthy shows:

sunday, march 7
the end (nashville)
international poop throw (i think we're playing last?)

wednesday, march 24
blue cat's (knoxville)
the features w/ the westside daredevils

i know some of you roadtrip it down here to see the features every now and then, so i'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of myself, my band and the city of knoxville to welcome you and your loved ones. we're excited as hell to be playing this bill, as we are features fans (featurites? featurettes?) and haven't had a chance to share a stage with them up 'til now.

as far as the ipo thing goes, i've read some grumbling about the cost, lack of weekend pass, etc. i very much empathize, as i'm also very much broke a very good deal of the time. but we're looking forward to it, and there really are a lot of great bands playing. if you absolutely can't make it out sunday night, you should at least make an attempt to see our buddy tim lee (ex-windbreakers, let's active) on saturday night. he and his bassist/wife are salt-of-the-earth nice people, and he's just a whale of a guitarist. and i'm not 100% positive, but i'm pretty sure don and/or mic from superdrag will be helping back him up.

that's it. thanks for reading. nice to meet you. have a great weekend.

this is true. thanks for reminding me:

friday, march 5, 2004
the pilot light (knoxville)
the westside daredevils
w/ verde and the apparitions

y'all know verde, i'm sure. swell bunch of kids, and we've been meaning to bring them into town for awhile now. the apparitions are a great band from kentucky (lexington, i believe), now featuring our buddy robby, the former drummer of pontius copilot (r.i.p.). wicked good drummer. anyway, if anybody is feeling adventurous and wants to come check out one of the most infamous clubs in the state, let me know. i'll see what i can do about guest-listing, and barring that, i'll buy a round or two of luke-warm pabst blue ribbon.

i guess maybe i should add this stuff, too:

www.lynnpoint.com
www.thepilotlight.com

hope to see/meet a few of you at one or more of these shows. also, a quick shout out to our peeps in ibl and dnd. peace.

Dude, I'm out of the loop too. However, I can tell you there are 2 Verde shows this weekend (Friday in Knoxville at The Pilot Light, Saturday here for the IPO), after that I would expect at the very least another lengthy hiatus. It's probably the asshole bassist's fault for playing in too many bands.

They used to play with De Novo Dahl occasionally, so we have to talk about them here.

My first show with De Novo Dahl was with Verde @ Red Rose. That was before they ruined it and got a bass player.

They have to distract you with their stupid costumes and jiggling boobies so you don't notice their music sucking.

Pick up a CD of either one and hopefully you'll agree with the hype. In my humble groupie opinion, easily two of the top 10 bands in Nashville. Only for those who can appreciate excellent pop music, though.

their drummer's "jiggling boobies" are by far the most distracting. ugh

Speaking of, there is a big rumor that Verde is going to be giving out copies of their un-released album at their International Pop Overthrow show.
