TOPIC: Here's a link

Okay.. there was a topic in "Features -> General" regarding a link to a band site and some rather caustic replies as to banning the "fuckface" or something along those lines.

Regardless, I moved the topic to Music and then accidentally deleted it. But I just wanted to drop a note to say that this IS a public forum, and I think that once the Features get their much deserved notoriety more people are going to come here and promote random bands. They'll sign up for an account, post a link to a band you probably have no interest in hearing, and then never come back. Happens all the time - online street teamers are told to do this in order to get the word out about bands.

Wether or not this is an effective tactic really isn't the point here.. I just wanted to clarify that the deletion of the post wasn't because I felt it was terribly inappropriate, but rather a mistake.

That is all.

And I notice that you didn't say it was a bad thing that he was given what-for.

I believe I used the word "jackass", much more civilised (notice the 's' as in British tradition) than "fuckface".

I understand the openess of the forum and enjoy it. I requested the ban because he not only came in and did it once, which is fine by me, I never went to look at it anyway, but then he did it again under a slightly deceptive topic. I'm not one for tired cliches and I'm to busy right now to go look up the proper quote, but its something like this "Fool me once good for you, fool me twice I'm gonna get your ass banned...." huh.gif

I wasn't trying to bully anything or anyone on the board... just venting some frustration... this is an open forum, right?

Yes, this certainly is an open forum. For the record, I'm pretty sure "fuckface" was a term thrown around by someone.. but since the thread has been deleted, it's kind of hard to confirm. Either way, doesn't matter.

Maybe I misunderstood the sentiment being expressed by lambasting the guy for posting about a random band - but I hope that you understand where I am coming from as well. Just sort of a word of warning to prepare yourself for these type of posts. People will come here with no interest in the Features other than attempt to expose the msg board members to some other band that they believe is somewhat similar (which 9 out of 10 times is a pretty far cry, but you gotta give them at least a half a point for trying).

Anyway, kind a null point now. Apologies all around if I erked anyone with my word of warning.
