the white stripes only relevant contribution to my life:
i bought the lafayette blues 7" (second pressing) when i saw them at the end a few years ago & sold it on ebay for $70 last year.

Yeah, a lot of the songs on that tape are covers. Don't you feel uncool knowing that wasn't a Captain Beefheart song?

i don't know. i can never decide if "ashtray heart" or "party of special things to do" is my favorite beefheart cover. they are both pretty rocking.

other covers not included on full lengths that i enjoy: dylan's "isis" and "lovesick," brendan benson's "good to me," and MC5's "looking at you." "jolene" and "rated x" go without saying.

Mine is definitely "Party of Special Things To Do." Though, I really like "Ashtray Heart." I haven't listened to any of my White Stripes cds in some time now, but "Lafayette Blues" was always my favorite, followed by a tie between "Let's Shake Hands" and some others.

Me too, RD. The Beefheart covers were always my favorites......along with "astro", especially when paired with link wray's "jack the ripper"
