TOPIC: iParty Tuesdays

Post 1 of 25
On June 1, the award winning Bar23 (Conde Nast just picked them as one of the coolest bars in the US) will begin a new bi-weekly series called iParty Tuesdays with special guest iDJ Annette Strean from Venus Hum.

What is an iParty Tuesday?

short answer -
Its the analog version of file swapping - You can listen to the night's iDJ's and you also have the chance to be the iDJ. Just bring your iPod loaded with a thematic 30 minute playlist and sign up. Hosts iMoon (Jason Moon Wilkins) and iMickey (Grimey's Records' Mickey Parks) will draw names from those who brought along their iPods in order to select the night's guest iDJ's and to give away cool prizes - DVD's, software, CD's etc.
The event is also meant to serve as an unofficial hang for Nashville's non-commercial country, non-CCM scene, so that ideas can be swapped as freely as the music, with no government officials there to slap you with an affidavit.

Kickoff- June 1
Continuing - First and third Tuesday of each month.
Costs - No Cover
Time - Starts at 9:30pm

i got dragged in there the other night...it wasn't my scene, really...no room to move around, a lot of drunk girls dancing on tables (of which i did approve)...techno and similarly passionless music fare...at some point, i finished my beer, slammed it down and got the hell out of there. it could be cool though, with a different clientele...if it hadn't been for all the sluts and rich boys with their hats on crooked, it would've been a classy vibe.

i don't know what a trucker hat is; a mullet maybe? just normal baseball-style hats with strange non-baseball style logos on them...it was more of a throwaway observation, not really important...the point was they were rich boys in khakis, monogrammed shirt types, and people i have little or nothing in common with.

Trucker hats are the things Ashton Kutcher wears. I think the difference is a trucker hat is kind of plastic.

It doesn't sound like that much fun to me, but I enjoy odd things.

I won't go to a bar that finds it inappropriate for a guy to wear shorts to a bar in the summer but says it's okay for a dude in a tank top to get in. Fuck Bar23.
Daigle is all we need to make the night complete

I want to go to Bar23 sometime this week so that I can...

A ) check out whether these girls are hot or cute. if they're hot, I doubt I'll go back. If they're cute, I'll be there again.

B ) get drunk

C ) people-watch

if any other people are interesting in going and haven't been yet, we should make an evening out of it.

ceeze, I think that you should go with me.

have any particular night in mind? it should be one where we can get an accurate feel for the typical bar23 experience.

Don't they have a velvet rope at Bar23? I'm nowhere near attractive enough or a sharp enough dresser to get in anywhere with a velvet rope.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

i don't think there's any kind of velvet rope situation--i went there on a weekend night and walked right in...and if they let me in, i'm sure anyone can go.

I'm in as long as someone is driving me to nashville from the boro, and we don't leave until after 9, and it not on wednesday.

Is that enough qualifiers?

i frequented the place back when it first opened and loved it. but back then it was lots of gay guys, older men with lots of money, and a few uninteresting people not worth noticing. the food was great, the dirty martinis were great and i managed to make some business deals there.

fun gay times
she's just another ho that i met in the hood
i told her i was crunchy black and it was all good
