TOPIC: Jetpack Show at Blue Sky Court
Posted  Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 1:22 PM
Post 1 of 19
Jetpack is headlining a really cool show this Saturday (october 4th) at the Blue Sky Court.
First of all, it's 18+, which I'm sure will appeal to many of you.
Second, it will be an opportunity for all the Jetpack naysayers to get a chance to see how much they've matured and improved over the last year or so. (If you've been blabbing about how much Jetpack sucks but haven't seen them in a year or two, do yourself a favor and come to the show.)
Finally, Brian Carter's Preservatives are opening. For those who don't know, Brian produced some of the Beginning EP. I've heard this is an all-star band composed of members of Green Rode Shotgun as well as our very own Roger Dabbs.

Be there!!!

Out of curiousity, does the drummer of Jetpack still play with his mouth wide open the whole time? I may attend this show to see The Preservatives again, I've always enjoyed them in the past. I'll be the guy being an asshole.

Out of curiosity, since the release of the High School Girls EP, have they started acting like they're not out for high school girls, perhaps moving on to freshmen in college?

Wouldn't say so, considering a newer version of High School Girls is on their full-length.

Yes, Pete still plays drums with his mouth open. (He does not, however, play guitar with his mouth open.) And I agree-- this makes him a no-talent hack and consequently makes Jetpack a completely worthless band. It's the little things that matter most.

Yes, they sing about things other than high school girls, walkie talkies and werewolf girlfriends now. Still, most of the recent songs seem to be about unrequited love and things of that nature. Despite this, they tend to bring some very cute girls to their shows and have been seen in social situations with some very fine honies (and Jetpack John's wife is quite foxy).

For what it's worth, Roger is one of their biggest fans. As is Brian Carter. Of course, what do they know about cool music?

While I know that most of that probably isn't directed to me, I'm gonna go ahead and state upfront that Jetpack is one of my favorite bands. So yeah, I'll just kind of stand next to you and nod along...

Someone is fishing for a guestlist spot.

Jetpack won me over about a year ago.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I was talking about Carl's, and I think it's pretty obvious that he's not anti-Jetpack, moreso an advocate. And I couldn't agree more, I love Jetpack.

I heard Roger's favorite band is the Black Crowes...all kidding aside, I have seen Jetpack lately, but I have and will continue to muffle my dislike of them. They are not terrible or bad, etc, I just don't like them myself. I can see where others might though, and that's ok.

Well, hot girls... that's certainly a reason to like the band. And a member of The Features likes them? Sweet jesus. Why didn't someone tell me? If I can ever dislodge my lips from the collective asses of The Features, I'll rush down to my nearest music outlet and pick up a Jetpack CD.

I'm sure Jetpack has improved mightily since the last time I saw them. I'm just not sure I'm ready to invest the time or money in something I really didn't care for so many other times in the past. No offense to the Jetpack fans in the crowd. I hope you all have a marvelous time basking in the power-poppy goodness. It will just be my loss. As for the drummer's ceaseless impression of an Edvard Munch painting, it is in no way, shape, or form an indication of his playing ability. It just serves as a constant temptation for to throw stuff.

I really liked his songs when he played a solo opener for the Features at the Slow Bar in May. He is a genius.

He's a very nice guy, too, who will talk your ear off. And then pick it up and miraculously fuse it together with a burning white light that comes from his fingertips.

I think drummers are constantly going through life with their mouths open. Or so has been my experience.

Have you ever considered a 12 step program? Just because it is all you know, doesn't mean you have to waste your life away giving head for rocks.
