TOPIC: Let's Get This Started Right
Posted  Monday, September 1, 2003 at 2:27 PM
Post 1 of 35
So I guess that the header for this forum implies that we can't bash people joining our message board in order to promote their crap local bands. Oh well. Whenever they do, I'll try to contain myself, probably by re-reading the Lurve thread.

Anyway, to launch this new forum, list your top 5 bands/solo artists of all time. Only 5, please.

In no order

Fluid Ounces, the Features, the Beatles, REM, Mike Watt

My favorite these days (but not the best of all time), based mostly on a solid, consistent catalogue:

Pearl Jam
Radiohead
Pavement
Ben Folds Five
The Beatles
Daigle is all we need to make the night complete

The Features, The Beatles, The White Stripes

After those three, there are a lot tying for slots 4 and 5, so I'll just keep it simple.

Exactly, I thought the fifth band would be a toss up between Bowie, Pavement, and The Kinks.

2. R.E.M.
3. Wilco
4. The New Pornographers
5. The Jayhawks

I have major guilt about putting Elvis over REM. My list may change after Sept. 24.

um, excuse me? Those are not your top five bands. Once again, there is no Clash, and I know they're number 1 or 2...definitely above pavement. And...The Kinks are above The Beatles? I know you love them, but really...do you love them more? Just seems a little fishy to me. dry.gif rolleyes.gif smile.gif
