I was thinking about some local bands and what they sound like. The primary one being De Novo Dahl...

Largely...
Blur
Beach Boys (Beulah as a result)
Kinks
Pixies

Small parts...(I really think it would be cool if they expanded on these)
Hall and Oates
Steely Dan

Any other bands you would care to do? Opinions...

To me, De Novo Dahl sounds like an amalgamation of the best elements of 1990s BritPop - PULP, the LONGPIGS, BLUR, the AUTEURS, the SUPER FURRY ANIMALS, SUPERGRASS, GORKI'S ZYGOTIC MYNCI and Bends-era RADIOHEAD.

"Mishka" reminds me of SELF.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

I agree with that. They genre-bounce like some bastards. I find aspects of their music in a lot of different pop/rock styles.

Mishka reminds me of My Bloody Valentine, but I can see where you could read some SELF into it too...never thought of that!

Hey I don't remember the thread that this topic was originally in, (it's confusing now that they are all about De Novo Dahl), but the cable access show with DND seems to have been rescheduled for Oct 5 according to www.thenashvillepulse.com. However, I am sure a lot of you will be at a show that night...
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

man..... you guys should have your vcrs ready to tape that public access show. we were absurd. i think a lot of our goofball attitude stems from that experience. afterwards, we knew we could never take ourselves too seriously - even if we tried.
