it was just a bad experience overall. no event parking, so we had to park at tower and walk about 6 blocks in the freezing cold. once we got to the entrance, they told me i couldnt bring my camera in (and i hadnt brought it for the show, i just always keep it with me). i asked if i could take the batteries out, they said no. so we had to walk all the way back to the car to put the camera in the car, even though cell phones were allowed. when i got back, i asked to speak to someone since the "no cameras" rule wasnt posted on the ticket, and since everyone at the show probably had camera phones. security told me that i should probably speak to the band about that, and that they dont want their (photo) property stolen (bullshit), but that it was a memorial gym policy. she wouldnt direct me to anyone in charge, which i thought was really shitty. i know she was just doing her job but i was just asking to speak to someone, and she was doing everything she could to argue with me, even though i wasnt trying to argue with her. anyway, finally got in. reeeeally annoying vandy girls all about filling the gym air with bad perfume. i was in row 11, all the way to one side. terrible, terrible sound. annoying crowd who gave constant unsolicited whoos. hippie dancing, some girlfriend-to-boyfriend-ass-penis-grinding, etc. the band basically played the entire new album, to which the crowd roared. the gym was "sold out" but only filled up 1/4 of the gym. they should have put the stage on one end of the gym floor and filled up the rest of the floor with chairs, rather than having people on the 2nd and 3rd levels in general admission. but most of all, the sound was absolutely terrible, as you can imagine in memorial gym.
im sure that the band got a ton of money for the show, which is great, but it wasnt a good show, and i think they knew it. i wonder if they care about that at all.
i spent the whole time wishing that it would have been a basketball game.
oh the drudgery of being wet
