Glenn Tillbrook on Friday was amazing. A short and sweet 1 hour set, just him and his 12 string acoustic. Entertaining and some beautiful songs, (apart from the worryingly titled "Hot Shaved Asian Teens", which for some reason made me uncomfortable), finishing with a medley of old Squeeze songs. Excellent.

when and where is the next (nashville) de novo dahl show? i'm confused.

There was one scheduled at the Exit/In on April 8th, but apparently they were edged out when the venue realized they had double-booked them with a country act.

Who could blame 'em, though? I mean, it's not like De Novo Dahl's a big draw there or anything blink.gif

They're looking for a new venue, though. I'm going to recommend they play at my house.

I just got my ticket for Hot Hot Heat at the Leadmill in Sheffield today. I saw them in November 2003 at the same venue, when the support act was a then-unknown Franz Ferdinand. HHH are about the best live act Ive seen, Steve Bays is great frontman, a bundle of energy.
Everyone in the UK, go see HHH, they wont disappoint you.

I saw an English band called Mystery Jets last Thursday. Theyre definately a band to watch in the future.

I thought Mystery Jets were good, but a little weird, plenty of samples, and strange noises programmed to the keyboard. Im not sure their music was really appropriate for a student indie night, but i enjoyed it anyway. They had a really good song called 'Dennis'.
They have a drummer and a percussionist, who acts as the lead singer. The singer's dad plays guitar, which is an interesting arrangement. Keep it in the family, as they say.

I know this is a cliche thing to say, but I was really excited by their first album, and at that time there was no chance to see them live or anything (that I knew of). Now they're more popular & available after the recent album & I think that album pretty much sucks. I wanted to like it, but the production annoys me & the songs are weak. I hate being disappointed after loving a band's first album. That said, I'd certainly go to the show if they came out here to the goondocks.

I got their first album quite awhile before the second one too, but I still think the second one is better. As my mom would say, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Either way, they put out a live album a couple weeks ago that's better than both of them, so I'm pretty excited to see them live.

Im not sure festival-wise. I might head over to France, La Route du Rock in Normandy is usually pretty good.

I went to see Razorlight last night at Alexandra Palace which has a capacity of 9,000 and was sold out. Needless to say, I felt I wasted my money. They weren't that great, the sound was crap, Johnny Borrell has his head so far up his own arse, and all the fucking fans there were so desperate to get to the front that i think i've cracked a rib. What happened to the fucking music...

Mine, too, after I see The Privates tonight.

Of course, I realize my love life has nothing to do with this topic-- or any other topic on this board for that matter.

That's disappointing. I really liked what I'd heard of them. Even thought they would make good touring mates for the Features....and their on Universal too.
remember that its all in your head.

I saw Razorlight open for Muse last week. I was kind of underwhelmed. I must say they were better than most openers I've seen for Muse though.

my next gig is most likely going to be iron and wine next week. If not that show, it'll be paul westerberg.

They already toured together in the US last year between legs with the KOL. As far as I know, they had a good time with it.

Chill?

I wasn't attacking you in any way, shape, or form. It's just that you're the second person who posted something speculative about the Features touring with Razorlight. I wasn't sure if you (and LLLYSTM) realized they had toured together. Mindylieu already hinted at it, I was just stating it more clearly for those who didn't know.

no, sadly, i didn't. i'll probably see em at the intonation festival, i think. i've seen em before, and it's much, much, much louder than songs ohia. twangier, too. they closed with an awesome rendition of "mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys"

your would-be boyfriend?

... and i like songs:ohia.

So, yeah. The Shins tonight at The Cannery. I know plenty of you are probably going. What time do you think is early enough to get a parking space and a decent standing place? 9? 8?

I hate to be annoying, but I'm really not sure about this one. I hate getting to gigs too early and just sitting around, but I feel that this will be ultra-crowded.

Any thoughts?
