Terrible name for a band. Generic, repetitive, and overproduced song. Decent energy.

I guess if I want to get work I need to change my name to something like Talon Nightshade. Just call me Claw Jimsonweed from now on... thanks.

I guess you should quit reading from the Music (other than the features) section, and go to the General section and only post there.

hmmm...ive always liked their name. most singles are generic, repetitive and overproduced (especially from the likes of self and the eels whom i mentioned). and yeah their energy is insane. seeing them live was definately an experience to say the least.

Do you see the inconsistency of calling a band "slightly avant-garde" then admitting a single is generic? I'm trying to think of a generic Eels single... I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

well im applying the slightly avant-garde description to their live show and other songs you havent heard yet, so i guess it really isnt fair to say that.

"Mr. E's Beautiful Blues" is a terribly generic song. "Novocaine for the Soul" can also be argued as such.
their best single is "Last Stop This Town" in my opinion.

DUDE!

Not that anyone cares, but if you click on the link that Superflks gave, and scroll down, you can see the guy who has been my Steadicam Operator for two projects that I shot, plus for several where I was 1st Asst. Camera.

Again, not that it makes a bit of difference to anyone, but seeing Carl where I didn't expect to took me by surprise.

As for the song, it isn't bad, but I'd have mentioned bands other than Self or Eels for comparison, because it frankly was nothing like either of those wonderful bands.

thats awesome about seeing your friend. small fucking world.

oh and i picked the self because of the random starts/stops, the organ sound, the "aaaahhhh's" during the chorus and the production value are all very self.
the eels are a bit more of a stretch, ill admit. i mainly said them because of the organ sound as well. i think im founded enough to call out self at least.
Eh.

I agree. Maybe those comparisons got me expecting too much, but I wasn't feeling that song at all. I hope for their sake that the rest of their album is less boring than the single.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

I'd tell you, but once you've brushed with His greatness like I have, you don't care to associate with those that haven't. I'll take my leave of you now.
