Is it cool to take a 2 week old baby to a concert? Or leave Mom home with the Peace Pollywog? Just asking....

Uh-oh. I really want to go to that. But that's going to be a hard ticket to get. Maybe the hardest ever, in fact. I mean, the Monster Tour show at Starwood sold out in like half an hour. Maybe they'll do like 2 or 3 nights.

I can't really even describe how excited I am about this. R.E.M.... Nashville... The Ryman! Thank god for the fan club and its guarantee of great seats. If I wasn't in it I would be freaking out right now.

I wonder if it will be acoustic?

Yes! Only people who have made REM collages deserve special consideration.

You can always get tickets... for a price. For R.E.M., I'll spend the money.

EDIT: I'm a bad R.E.M. fan. I didn't even realize their new album, Around the Sun, will be released at the beginning of October. I was thinking it would be a 2005 release. Anyway, this show is part of a tour to support that new album. The first single will be "Leaving New York." Has anyone heard it?

Leave the babe at home, or get her some serious earmuffs. I really think concert-level noise can damage their ears. Plus, their immune system is not mature enough to handle the onslaught of germs, esp. from REM fans. Mom would probably appreciate the night out at that point, although she'll probably fall asleep.

YaY!!!!!! I'm so happy. I'll probably be able to go to both shows since it's on the weekend. Oh, I'm so poor! But I would rather miss a meal than miss REM!!!

I think Ghostflower needs an alternate. I mean, we would all hate it if something were to happen to him. If you know what I'm getting at.

So, fan club tickets are sold out... or all tickets have been sold before the public got a stab at it? I just want a seat.

I'm pretty sure that BittersweetMe was referring to the fanclub pre-sale. According to their website :

"Tickets sold through this online outlet for this event are SOLD OUT. Please contact the box office or promoter for other available ticket outlets. Tickets may be available elsewhere".

Looks like you guys still have a shot.

By the way, TLW and I got tickets! We're in MF-4, row T. Special thanks go to the kind customer service employee at Kroger in Tullahoma for his advanced knowledge of the Ticketmaster system and his fast fingers.

I'll take this one. The Ryman show was fantastic. We had great seats but we eventually moved to the front of the stage. Stipe was a little grumpy b/c people had their beer cups on stage, plus since this is the bible belt, the crowd didn't take too kindly to him wearing his Kerry t-shirt during the encore (I thought his shirt was great!). Great setlist that I unfortunately don't have in front of me including Electrolite, Don't Go back to Rockville, Walk Unafraid, What's the Frequency, Kenneth? Exhuming McCarthy, So Fast So Numb, and several new songs like Boy in the Well, Final Straw and the Aftermath. Leaving New York sounded great live. It truly is a beautiful song. Also listening to Stipe sing the rap vocals for The Outsiders was a treat. I will always remember this concert as the first that I touched Mike Mills' foot and that Stipe was gyrating right in front of me during the encore.
The Deluth Show was great. We weren't as close but the guys put on a hell of a show and the crowd wasn't offended as much as the Nashville show crowd by the Kerry shirt. Let's just say I will be a happy girl for a long time.
Good to see you Ghostflower and I want Elvis. Hope you had fun! It was nice to stalk the band afterwards with you even though it didn't work. biggrin.gif

I thought the show was okay. Katie and I agreed though that it was pretty anticlimactic after seeing them play the amazing, long, great-set-list-of-a-show last October in Atlanta. It WAS great seeing them at the Ryman, but the setlist in my opinion was mediocre. Electrolite was a nice highlight. I enjoyed stipe's dancing and crazy smiling more than anything, honestly. Good show..but...comparatively, just okay.
right you are, ken!
