Post 1 of 25
this weekend, the privates (with rollum along with ryan and dave from character, and keith from verde) will be playing at the sutler in nashville. show info:

saturday, september 6, 2003
mercator
the lone official
the privates
@the sutler (nashville)
9pm.
cost tba

the privates played their first show this past weekend at 12th and porter though i wasn't there so i have no idea what they sound like.

should be cool, though, and wouldn't be over $5 (though it may be a 21+ show... not sure, never been there).

Just when I thought that the Sutler had completely flat-lined in terms of their live music, they go and do THIS! I'm there.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

yeah, i've never actually been to the sulter before tonight (to drop off some fliers) but i always thought of it as a singer/songwriter honky-tonk type place, i guess. then this girl christy called and told me she had imaginary baseball league booked and that her boyfriend wanted to book us (mercator) and that they were trying to book different types of music now (i guess before was just the singer/songwriter and metal bands (??)). so, the night after our show is IBL and i guess they're gonna try and have good bands consistently now, which is always good considering the other options out there (that don't charge $150+ for "sound") for young indie rock bands now that the slow bar has closed.

glad to hear you're coming. thanks

Ah, beat me to it on the IBL plug. I'm hoping I can make it to this after the Verde set at the Havana lounge.

I'm very excited about the prospects of the Sutler being the "new Slow Bar". Plus, it's right across the street from my favorite gay bar.

I fucking love the Sutler. I saw Clem Snide there a while back and the Urban Peasants earlier this year. It's really cool, in my opinion, and the people that work there aren't dicks.

Well, I think that they are 21+, and not to rat them out, but I've never had any trouble with them about seeing shows there while under 21. They just make sure that you don't drink and I kindly oblige since they let me in. They could have changed though.

It's all ages during the day, of course. For shows, it's been 21+ for as long as I can remember.

I do not like the Slutler, and as such I will not be at the show.

upon examining your name, i have determined that you are not, in fact, ballet apes, which i previously mistook you for.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

Excellent, you've told me about Mattoid four or five times now, but I haven't been able to remember that name. I love that band. They're so entertaining. I just hope that they don't get rid of Sunflower.

And yeah, I did hear about Clem Snide, yet I am still pissed that they are playing the Exit/In again, instead of a smaller venue, like the End. Beulah is coming soon too...again.

No, we left also. I didn't think there was anyway that I could be any more entertained than I was at the end of that set, so I thought I'd leave on the highest note.
