So September is here, and no definite word on the new Self album... anyone heard anything? Whispers, rumors, etc?

Just in for all you Self fans, I heard that O&C has been pushed back to the spring of next year. The single will hopefully be out in January, and the band hopes to tour.

WHAT the HELL!!!???

Oh man, that's bad news. Really bad news. I had been looking forward to this album moreso than I have anything in a long time. I've been waiting 3 years for a new Self album. Didn't the same thing happen with Breakfast With Girls? Oh well...I guess if it's as good as BWG, it'll be worth the wait.

At least the new OutKast album is still coming out. Both of the new singles sound great, especially Andre's.

Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Quite a disappointing development. As I always feel, I'll stand for a delay if it means a better final product (like Criterion's announcement today that Rules of the Game has been delayed til next year due to the discovery of a newer print this week). Hopefully this extra time is being well-spent in making the best Self cd we can buy. If that's the case, and this isn't just industry bullshit, then I'm satisfied, if not disappointed, with this news.

BWG was labored with setbacks. This album is finished (I think), but the label just pushed it back. Michael can explain better than I can.
