Yeah, this new one rocks. And the samples at selfmusic.net are awesome as well...this will definitely be Self's best album yet. Those 5 songs, even though just vocalless clips, are soooo amazingly good...especially Pathetic, but they all rock.

Self will be streaming one new B-side a week from their website until the new album comes out. There are two up now. http://www.selfmusic.net

This indicates that the new album has something resembling a release date, which is brilliant news in my book.

I'm sure those crazy kids over at selfies will have it available for download.

I could MP3 it, but I'd rather Self release them in MP3 form with an official order as another downloadable b-sides album. (With downloadable album art, of course) Man, that would rock.

Well, Self has the brilliant powers of michael on their side, and to put it bluntly, he knows how to keep people from getting to streaming material. He wasn't always so cautious... but he now seems to be. He's good, that michael. Damned good.

Wouldn't it, though?

TF- The people that run selfies.com are like all buddy-buddy with Self and their management, aren't they? At least Spencer Wysinger is. I thought that he/they always took a really hard-line stance on not putting anything up for download that the band didn't want there. Also, they usually get all elementary school teacher with people about putting things on kazaa.

Having said that, I'm sure said songs will be on kazaa really damn quick. The trouble is, I don't use kazaa anymore.

Oh mp3 revolution, I remember you so fondly... I remember when you were so young and exciting. Now I feel dirty taking part in you and your Kazaa form. Where is the love of Napster, the excitment of Scour, or the mystery of Audiogalaxy?

Bygone days, friends. We'll never have them back.

Yes, he is good, and yes, I do love and respect that michael man. But anything is possible. Just ask TF.

Too bad TF's not a Self fan.

I've definitely found ways around such things before, but I'd be a fool if I claimed to have the skills that TF seems to keep lying around waiting for a rainy day in a band's web presense. I'm sure there's a way. But even my seruptitious methods are obsolete at this point.

That really sums it up, Will. File sharing used to feel so...innocent. Now, at best, one has to wade through a pool of cookies, pop-up ads, pornography, and mislabeled files. At worst, one gets a lawsuit.

Did anyone else notice that the Beatles slipped an anti-file sharing message into the liner notes of Let It Be...Naked?

Was it The Beatles, or was it just Paul and Ringo?

I get the feeling George wouldn't care.
That's so NA.

Good point.

Actually, I can't imagine Ringo caring either...

Kind of on this topic:
was in Berkeley CA a couple days ago and found Subliminal Plastic Motives for a buck 95 at a CD store. Also found Paper Lions - The Symptom and The Sick for a buck 95, ....needless to say i purchased them both.
