YES! Deevol picked up the tickets last week at Grimey's, so we're all set. I'm so pumped that SFA are headlining this time (nothing against Grandaddy).

No, Grandaddy are not playing at this show. But when I saw SFA in Louisville, they were opening for Grandaddy. I like Grandaddy. But I like SFA alot more.

According to the Exit-In website, the opener is Papa M. I'm a big fan of both of these bands, and I definitely plan on attending.

Yeah ...

Kinda sucked SFA opened up for Grandaddy there ... I love Grandaddy and all ... but SFA has been around and done their thing for so long, I'm sure it was a sad little American ego-swallowing piss hole. Not too mention the smell of toxic waste outside the club in Louisville. I'll be at this one obviously!!!!!

I'm definitely interested in checking this out. Is De Novo Dahl still in the running to open the show?
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Negative. I think they just wanted the 2 band bill, so we got dissed. =(

Well, despite the lack of De Novo Dahl (well, on stage anyway), it was a very good show.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I'm very, very glad you enjoyed it. And to think you wanted to go home....I'm feeling like crap this morning, but at least I wasn't as drunk as Papa M.

i thought the show was pretty good. that whole slew of slow songs mid-set kinda made me tired...i much prefer their short rock/pop songs.

So what songs did they play?

I love the super furries, but they can be very hit and miss live. As long as they finished with The Man Don't Give a Fuck... biggrin.gif

i stood at the front during part of the show & saw the setlist (which is good because i'm really only familiar with "rings around the world"-- here are a few i remember:

god show me magic, hermann loves pauline, receptacle, rings around the world, juxtaposed, run christian run, hello sunshine, liberty belle, golden retriever, piccolo snare, bleed forever, out of control...etc...

yes, they closed with "the man" (though i left after that song, did they do an encore?)

The encore was a reprise of "The Man Don't Give a Fuck" with SFA in the yeti costumes.

I hate to be a stickler, because I'm not really a Papa M fan, though Live From a Shark Cage is badass, but Papa M is actually Dave Pajo's main project, not a side project. It was his thing long before Zwan and continues to be now that they're gone. He did a stint in Tortoise as well and I believe was a founding member of Slint, but they're a shitbox anyway so who gives a fuck. But yeah, I saw Papa M live when Character opened for them and it was awful, awful, awful. Anyway, just some clarification. I'm not trying to be a dick.
Baby Jane's in Acapulco, we're all flying down to Riooooooooooooo

Paz had some really great panties, I thought. All blue and polka dotty. I left just about the time the limbo line started.

It's great to see God! Show Me Magic back! That and The Man Don't... have always been my favourite live tracks.

It's not a bad setlist, in all honesty. I could understand potential downtime in the middle of the set though. I really like Run Christian Run, but it doesn't work for me live.

The last 6 tracks they played are bloody cracking though! It's also great to Calimero dusted off again.

And I love the Yetis, but I miss the alien brass section sad.gif

The only bad thing was that the set list/show was VERY similiar to the Louisville show last year with Grandaddy .... theatrics and all ... it was still fun to see again. I liked Papa M .... and the panties were fun, and funny to see Pajo shirtless and told to get down by security guards.

I'm going to see 'em (SFA) in April.

Just so long as "Hermann Loves Pauline" is still in there, I'm all sweet (though I would like SOmething 4 The Weekend).

...and this ain't one of them...

Yeah, it's great to see that they like Hermann Loves Pauline again!

I'm still um-ing and ah-ing about whether to see them in April. I've seen them so many times, I get worried the excitement will wear off. And then they blow me away again. Hmmm.
